Chapter 4: Revenant Nightwolf

Back at DOATEC, Stryker and Cole brough Kabal back to be restored to the living. His appearance didn't change, his arms and body still looked like melted skin, his pale skin changed to it's original color and the yellow glow on his body disappeared. Kabal moved around a little and moaned. He was alive but needed rest.

???: Is he going to be okay?

From the other room, a young girl walked in...the same girl who was attacked by Kabal. She had a slender and petite build of average height, with a very girly, youthful appearance, pale skin and dark brown eyes. She had long hair that was tied in two braids, looped round, and pinned on either side of her head and she was wearing black leather shorts and shirt.

Stryker: Hell be fine...now that he's back to his old self.

???: Thank you for saving me. I don't even know your name.

Stryker: It's no problem. And the name's Stryker.

???: Stryker, well, thank you, Stryker. I'm Leifang.

Stryker: It's a pleasure. This is Kabal.

Helena: Tell me, was there anyone else here with you and Kabal?

Stryker: Yeah...his name was Nightwolf and he was another friend of mine.

Helena: We will need to find him.

Stryker: I'll try and look for him.

Cole: I'll go with you.

Stryker nodded and the two of them took off. Leifang stayed with Helena and Kokoro, until Kabal recovered. As for Nightwolf, he made it from the woods and to the Sakura temple. It appeared as though he was guided by something...maybe he could sense Jade's presence. As he walked in, two ninjas stopped him, in his tracks. It was Hayate and Ayane.

Hayate: Who are you?

Nightwolf: I am here under Netherrealm business. I seek one a Revenant named Jade.

Hayate: There is no one here, by the name of Jade. Leave now.

Nightwolf: You lie. The spirits have guided me to her location.

Ayane: He said leave. Don't make this hard on yourself.

Nightwolf: You do not command me. I serve Emperor Liu Kang and Empress Kitana.

Hayate: He's under a spell, like Jade and Stryker.

Ayane: What do we do?

Hayate: I asked you peacefully to leave, now I will force you out!

Hayate seemed determined to protect Jade. He battled against Nightwolf, the Revenant shaman. As always, Netherrealm magic seemed to have an equal match to Mugen Tenshi. Hayate had been training the new students of the Sakura temple so he proved to be just as strong...but not strong enough, against Nightwolf.

Nightwolf: Your skills are no match for mine!

Ayane: Master Hayate!

Nightwolf: If you do not wish to experience his pain, you will tell me where Jade is.

Ayane: You'll pay for what you did! I'll show you the power of Mugen Tenshi!!!

In anger, Ayane fought Nightwolf but she didn't seem to be focused. Her emotions overcame her and she was going out in blind rage. Nightwolf took this advantage and was able to easily defeat her, without even having to try.

Nightwolf: Your time is over.

Jade: Nightwolf!

Nightwolf: What is this? You are no longer a revenant!

Jade: I was restored and awakened to the truth.

Nightwolf: It matters not. Once you are dead, you become one of us.

Jade: I have been told that before and yet, I live again!

Nightwolf: You will not defeat me.

Nightwolf and Jade clashed with each other, neither one lightening up there attacks or loosening up. Jade continued using her new Mugen Tenshi skills, showing the power that she has possessed, thanks to the training of Hayabusa and Hayate. However, it seems as though she wasn't strong enough, since Nightwolf had defeated her.

Nightwolf: It is time to die!

Nightwolf was about to end it but someone came from behind and attacked him. He turned around and it was Hayabusa, saving Jade, in the nick of time. And with him, was his student, Momiji.

Hayabusa: You are not welcomed here.

Nightwolf: I am here for Jade, do not interfere.

Hayabusa: Jade is under the protection of Mugen Tenshi. You will not have her.

Nightwolf: Then you shall die, along with her!

The third battle, Nightwolf verses Hayabusa. It was truly an epic clash, powerful punches, furious kicks and incredible combos, flying at one another. Hayabusa was a true powerful ninja and Nightwolf was giving it all he had. It was hard to tell who was going to win. But...Nightwolf came out on top.

Nightwolf: You are a most formidable warrior. But death awaits you.

Momiji: I will not let that happen!

Nightwolf: This has gone on long enough. You shall all become revenants!

Nightwolf went all out, this time. Growing tired of everyone getting in the way of his job, he was planning finishing off Momiji, turning her into a revenant first. And he did. He used his most brutal combos and powerful attacks to weaken Momiji and finish her off.

Nightwolf: It is time that we and this!!!

Nightwolf walked over to Momiji and grabbed her right arm. He pulled out one of his tomahawks and was about to take Momiji's life...but something happened. He was suddenly stopped and released Momiji. He fell to his knees and then to the floor, knocked out. Momiji looked to Nightwolf confused at what happened, then she looked up and there was a boy standing behind Nightwolf. He walked over to Momiji and offered her a hand up.

???: Are you okay?

Momiji: Yes, thank you.

Hayabusa: Mom..iji...

Momiji: Master Ryu!

Hayabusa: Are you alright?

Momiji: He is defeated.

Hayabusa: And what of Jade...and the others?

Momiji: They are alive.

???: We need to get him to the temple.

Momiji: Right.

???: I'll deal with this guy. Take care of your master and Jade.

Momiji: Of course.

She carried Hayabusa and Jade and began making her way towards the temple.

Momiji: Which reminds me, tha...

Momiji turned around but the stranger wasn't there anymore. He had disappeared. However, he was on the roof of one of the temples, watching Momiji walk inside the Sakura temple. She then turned away and began making his way to a new location. In the Netherrealm, Liu Kang and Kitana were awaiting for Stryker, Kabal and Nightwolf to return and they were growing impatient.

Liu Kang: They should have returned by now.

Kitana: Something must have happened.

Liu Kang: I will send Kung Lao and Smoke to retrieve them. Let us hope they do not fail.
