The next morning, at the Sakura temple, Kung Lao was with Hayate, Momiji and Hayabusa beginning his training, with the students.
Hayabusa: Are you sure you want to do this?
Kung Lao: If we are to face this threat, I must prepare myself and the students.
Hayate: But you won't be facing just the students. You'll face, me Ryu and Momiji too.
Kung Lao: Yes. I am ready for this task.
Hayate: Very well. Good morning students. Today, we have a new trainer with us. His name is Kung Lao and he will help us prepare for the threat that we shall soon face.
Momiji: Give him a good workout, he'll need it.
Kung Lao: Yes, show me what Ryu and Hayate have taught you.
Hayabusa: Who is first to challenge Mr. Lao?
Marie Rose: I wanna try!
Hayate: You heard the lady.
Kung Lao: Very well.
Kung Lao began walking to the center of the Sakura grounds, along with Marie Rose.
Kung Lao: Shall we, young one?
Marie Rose: Don't look down on me, because I'm little.
Kung Lao: Then let us begin.
The battle began as Marie threw flying punches at Lao but he blocked each one, pushing her back. He was impressed, a girl her age was capable of such power. But he had to show what he was made of. As a shaolin, Kung Lao was steady, patient and ready for anything. Marie came dashing at him, for an attack but Lao outsmarted her. Ryu and Hayate watched, as they witnessed how well Kung Lao was, as a fighter and the power he possessed, as a shaolin.
Kung Lao: Learn from this.
Hayate: Well done, Kung Lao. I am impressed. Very impressed, actually.
Kung Lao: As a shaolin, I have the best masters, at the Wu Shi Academy.
Hayabusa: Who would like to try there hand, next?
Kokoro: I'd like to try.
Kung Lao: Please, do not be shy. Show me what you have learned.
Kokoro: I am ready.
Kokoro went all out, against Kung Lao. She managed to land a few blows to his face and body. But Lao was able to handle thm and returned to attacks...but he didn't bruise her too badly. The two went at it but Kokoro eventually lost. She bowed to Kung Lao, in respect, thanking him for the match.
Kung Lao: You have taught your students well, Hayate. They are powerful ninjas, at that.
Hayate: Thank you, Kung Lao.
Kung Lao: Who would like to challenge me next?
Hitomi: I'd like to go.
Leifang: Me too.
Hayate: A tag-team?
Kung Lao: I am prepared. Come and face me.
Hitomi: Hitomi...
Leifang: ...and Leifang!
Hitomi and Leifang: Powering Up!!!
Kung Lao: Definately Earthrealmers.
The tag-team match began with Hitomi and Leifang vs. Kung Lao. They were both powerful, as a team. Each working together for combos on Kung Lao. It seemed liked he was becoming overwhelmed...and yet, he could continue to fight.
Kung Lao: Most impressive, I have never seen Earthrealmers with your power. I am amazed.
Hitomi: Leifang and I are unbeatable.
Leifang: Together, no one can stop us.
Kung Lao: We shall see.
The fight continued on and Kung Lao was gaining the upper hand. He fought hard and didn't give Hitomi or Leifang a chance to counter, block or fight back. He won the match, with Hitomi and Leifang, worn out and tired.
Kung Lao: Quite an impressive team.
Hitomi and Leifang: Thank you, Kung Lao.
Tanya: Looks like someone is learning quickly.
Kung Lao: Tanya...
Tanya: Nice to see you again, Kung Lao.
Kung Lao: Should put you be in Edenia?
Tanya: Edenia is no more. It is no longer my home. Earthrealm 2 is.
Kung Lao: Let us hope you will not betray this realm.
Tanya: I am a traitor to no one. My deeds are in the past. I have begun anew.
Kung Lao: I find that hard to believe.
Tanya: Allow to show you how much I have changed.
Tanya challenged Kung Lao and she was truly strong. She proved to be a match for even him and was giving him a hard time. She eventually overwhelmed him and defeated him. She offered him her hand and helped him up.
Kung Lao: impressive. You truly have changed.
Tanya: As I said.
Kung Lao: Does this mean you will join us, in the fight against the Netherrealm?
Tanya: Yes. As I said, Earthrealm. 2 is my home. And I will not lose it, as I lost Edenia.
Mizuki: Ryu.
Hayabusa: Mizuki. Is something wrong?
Mizuki: We are still locating e whereabouts of Donovan...but he have other news.
Hayabusa: What is it?
Mizuki: Cole has gone to the Netherrealm to face the threat.
Hayabusa: Alone?
Mizuki: I'm afraid so.
Hayabusa: Then I must go and help him.
Mizuki: But...
Hayabusa: I'll be fine. Cole needs our help. I'll be back.
Mizuki: Be careful...
