7 Months Later

It had been 7 months since I last saw Adam. He would call me, but I would reject his calls. He would text me on how the baby was and I would never text him back. The judge had awarded me the house since I was going to have a child. I occasionally still talked to Jesse, but I was starting to talk to him less and less.

I found a boyfriend who's name is Vince Jackson. He's 35 and has a 14 year old daughter named Emma, a 10 year old daughter named Anna, and a 6 year old son named Logan. Vince and his wife got divorced 3 years ago. His kids live with his ex-wife, Julie and he gets to see them every other weekend.

Vince and I started dating 4 months ago and he occasionally spent the night at my house. He was a little freaked out when I told him that I was pregnant with Adam's child, but he told me that he would raise the child as if they were his.

I was sitting on the couch, watching reruns of Law and Order: SVU, when my phone buzzed on the coffee table. It was a text from Adam.

I know you don't want me to have anything to do with you or the baby, but will you at least tell me if I was going to have a daughter or a son? Please Syd. That's all I want, then I will leave you alone.

All I had to say was two words. I guess I could tell him. Maybe if I told him, he really would leave me alone. I texted him back.

A boy

He responded instantly.

Thank you for telling me. I heard you found a new guy. I hope you and our little boy will be happy.

I felt tears starting to fall down my cheeks. He wasn't mad, he didn't say anything but he hoped that we would be happy. I wiped my tears away when I heard Vince walk in the front door.

"Hey babe," He said as he walked over to me and kissed my cheek. He sat down next to me and kissed my swollen stomach. "How's the little guy?" He asked me. "Great, he's been kicking all day." I said. I tried not to look at him so that he couldn't tell that I had been crying.

"Sweetie, have you been crying?" He asked as he grabbed my chin and pulled my face towards his. "Maybe..." I said. "Was it Adam?" He asked. This wasn't the first time I had cried over one of Adam's texts. I had cried over multiple other ones due to the fact that they were so caring and sweet, just like this one. I always told Vince that it was just pregnancy hormones.

"Yeah, he texted me," I said as I handed Vince my phone. "At least he's letting you move on and hopes you're happy." Vince said. "Yeah," I said as I rubbed my swollen torso. "You are happy right?" Vince asked. I turned around to face him. "Of course I am Vince. We love you." I said as I rubbed my stomach. "I love both of you too." He said before he placed a passionate kiss on my lips.

"So Julie is going out of town and I get the kids for a whole week. If you want to, I think it's time for you to meet them." Vince said. "I would love to meet them!" I said. "They are coming over in about 2 hours, do you want to come back to my place with me?" He asked. "Sure," I said. He helped me up off the couch and carried me upstairs.

"Why are we coming up here?" I asked him. "Well you are going to have to pack a bag." He said as he set me down next to my closet. I packed a duffel bag full of maternity dresses, shirts, skirts, along with sweatshirts and sweatpants. Before I could pick up my duffel bag, Vince grabbed it.

"I got it babe, you just hold the little one." He said before he kissed my head. He walked downstairs to go put my duffel bag in the car. I went to my jewelry box to grab the necklace Vince got me for my 28th birthday, when I came across the necklace that Adam gave me for my 27th birthday. It was the necklace that had the day we got married on it.

I heard Vince walking up the stairs, so I buried the necklace under some bracelets and grabbed the necklace that he gave me. "Let me help you beautiful." Vince said as he put the necklace around my neck. "You are gorgeous, you know that?" He said as I turned around to face him. "Your the sweetest man ever, you know that?" I said. "I've been told," He said as he leaned down and quickly kissed me on the lips.

He grabbed my hand and led me downstairs. I grabbed my purse along with my phone and we got in the car. I was off to meet my boyfriend's ex-wife and his 3 children, while being pregnant with a child that wasn't his. This ought to be interesting.

Adam's POV

Jesse and I were sitting in my living room when I got the text back from Sydney. "What's up man?" Jesse asked me. "It's a boy." I said as I sent a reply to Sydney. "Wow, how do you feel? Especially since he's gonna be raised by her and her boyfriend." Jesse said. "I don't know Jesse. I don't know how I feel or what to feel. I want her back. I want that little boy to be raised by Syd and I, not her and her boyfriend." I said. "I'm sorry man." He said.

"It's not your fault, it's mine. If I hadn't blown that fucking red light, our daughters would be alive! Sure we wouldn't have this little boy on the way, but we would have Emily and Adalyn! I fucking screwed up Jesse! It's all my fucking fault!" I shouted. "Calm down man. There's nothing you can do now. She made up her mind." He said.

I felt tears start to form around my eyes. "I just want her back!" I shouted. "It's too late. She's happy with her boyfriend and she just texted me. She's going to meet her boyfriend's kids." He said. "Her boyfriend has kids?" I asked him. "Yeah 3 kids from his first marriage." He said. "She's happy Adam." He said.

And it broke my heart to know that she was happy with someone that wasn't me.

Sydney's POV

Vince and I pulled up to his house in Calbasas. He helped me out of the car and we walked inside. He took my duffel bag upstairs and I walked into the family room.

When Vince came back downstairs, he sat on the couch next to me and pulled me onto his lap. "I'm so excited for you to meet them. I have told them all about you. Emma is really excited to meet you. I have to warn you about something though." He said. "What, does she hate pregnant 28 year olds?" I asked as I laughed. "Your funny," He said. "I know," I said as I giggled. "So what is it?" I asked him.

"She's a really big fan of Maroon 5 and she has kind of a big crush on Adam." He said. "Like how big?" I asked him. "Her technology wallpapers are him, she has posters of him in her room, all her binders and notebooks have pictures of him, she has numerous Maroon 5 t-shirts, and she has been to 5 concerts." He said. "Wow," is all I could say before the doorbell rang.

Here we go.
