This Love

Hospital

Vince's POV

Someone told me that Emma was in a car accident and is in the hospital, maybe now they will let me out to go see her. I needed to talk to the man in charge here at the prison.

"Hello, sir. My name is Vince Jackson and my daughter was just in a car accident and is in the ICU. I was wondering if I could leave for maybe an hour and go visit her." I said in the sweetest, most innocent way that I could.

"Fine, but under supervision and only for an hour, then you must be back." He said. I nodded and walked out. I found the guard responsible for taking me and supervising the visit. He put on my handcuffs, typical procedure, and we got in the van.

When we arrived, the guard told the woman at the desk who we were looking for.

On our way down the hall, people's eyes never left me, especially doctors. We reached her room and without second thought I barged in.

Adam, Sydney, and Emma were the only ones in the room. Adam and Sydney were crying and Emma was just laying there almost lifeless.

"Vince...wha-what are you doing here" I heard Sydney stutter.
It took me a minute to spit out something. "Seeing Emma..where else?" I said. "...jail," Adam mumbled under his breath.

"Well, if you're here, I guess you should know what happened," Sydney said quietly. I nodded and she continued. "She was in a car accident, a bad one. She's sleeping right now, but she's been out for about 2 days, and..we're sure she has amnesia." She said.

Wow. Emma..she has Amnesia. This is perfect, not that she's been in a car accident but now she won't remember what I have done. Before I could say anything back, we heard a faint voice. "..excuse me..." The voice said.

All of our heads turned, "Emma!" Sydney shouted. She went to give her a hug, but Emma pulled away with a scared and confused look on her face. I could tell that hurt Sydney, because she excused herself to go get the doctor, trying not to cry.

The room felt..tense after Sydney walked out. Emma was staring quietly at her bed, probably confused on what had just happened and Adam was sitting silently in the corner with an occasional tear rolling down his cheek.

I cleared my throat and decided to ease the tension a bit. "Emma? Do you remember anything?" I asked her. She just stared at me and quietly said, "Emma..that's my name?" She asked. I nodded and she shook her head no to answer my question. She noticed Adam in the corner and pointed to him, but before either one of us could say anything, Sydney rushed in with the doctor.

The doctor did his typical procedures, checking up on how she is and everything.

When he was done; Emma, Sydney and Adam were all talking.

"Sydney..would you mind if I got some time alone to talk to Emma?" I asked her. Adam and Sydney exchanged looks and then she turned back to me and nodded. When they were gone, Emma asked "So..who are you?" I looked at her and decided to go through with the plan I had.

"Well, Emma I am your father. But, those two people that just left, Adam and Sydney, have taken you from me. I am in jail right now because they said I was doing these awful things, so they got you from me. They are bad people, I'm the one you can trust. okay?" I said. She nodded.

"So should I call you dad?" She asked me. "Well..that's up to you. I know you don't remember everything but I am your father," I said, trying to pull off my lie. She nodded, but still had a confused look on your face.

Before I could get anything else out, the policeman supervising this walked in and told me it was time to go. Emma looked even more confused but I told her I'd explain next time.

The next time needs to be as soon as possible if I want to get Emma back, because if she goes back with Sydney and Adam she could regain some memory and remember everything.

If this was going to work, I need to work fast.
