This Love

Caught

Sydney's POV

I woke up facing Adam. I hadn't woken up in the same bed as Adam in 11 months. Now when we slept together, he usually went home right after.

He was so peaceful in his sleep. I watched Adam flutter his eyes open. "Good morning beautiful," He said. "Morning handsome," I said. "Wow, we haven't been in this position in almost a year," He said as he ran his fingers through my hair. "Yeah, it's been a long time," I said.

Adam pulled me close to him and kissed me. Our kiss was interrupted by a cry that came from Bentley's baby monitor. I sat up clutching the bed sheet to my chest, when I saw someone standing in the doorway.

It was Vince.

Adam must've seen the shocked look on my face because he sat up too. "Shit," Adam mumbled. "Vince. Why are you back so early?" I asked nervously. "How long has this been going on?" He asked. "This was the first time, I promise." I said. Vince just stared at the ground and stayed silent.

"I missed you so much and when Adam came over to watch Bentley, I gave in. I needed love and affection, so I gave in. I love you, Vince. I don't love Adam, I love you." I said. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw sadness come over Adam. I wanted to tell him that I did love him, but I couldn't.

Adam reached down to the floor and picked up his boxers. He slipped them on and climbed out of bed. He grabbed his t-shirt and jeans and put them on. "Tell Bentley I said goodbye," Adam said before he left the room and the house.

"Baby, I'm so sorry." I said. Vince walked over to the bed and laid next to me. He pulled me close to him and craddled me in his arms. "I get why you caved in. He was your husband for 3 years. Before I was with you, I was dating this model. She left for 3 months and I missed her a lot. One day, while the kids were at school, Julie came over. I slept with Julie and we told each other that we wouldn't do it again. So, after Julie left, I felt so guilty that I called my girlfriend and broke up with her." He said.

"Are you breaking up with me?" I asked him. "No, I would never break up with you." He said as he lifted my chin to his face. "I love you Syd," He said. "I love you too Vince," I said before I crushed my lips onto his. Our kisses were interrupted by Bentley screaming.

"I got him. You get dressed. I'm going to take you out to lunch," He said before he placed a quick kiss on my lips and went to go get Bentley. I climbed out of bed and grabbed a new pair of bra and panties out of my dresser drawer. I slipped them on and went to my closet to pick out an outfit for lunch.

I picked out a pair of dark skinny jeans with a white v-neck. I put them on and suddenly realized that the v-neck was Adam's. It smelled just like him. It only broke my heart more, but I decided to keep the v-neck on. I slipped on a pair of white wedges and put my hair up into a messy bun. I appllied some light makeup and went to check my phone. There was a message from Adam.

Nice to know you don't really love me. Did you just use me as your little playmate until your boyfriend came back? You lied too. We have been sleeping together for more than just today. Good to know that you don't cherish these past few months as much as I have. Maybe it's because I don't have anyone else to love except you. Anyway, I'd still like to see Bentley every now and then. He is my son afterall. Tell your boyfriend not to worry. We won't be sleeping together anymore. I love you Syd. The part that breaks my heart is knowing that you don't love me back.

I felt tears fall down my cheeks as I read the message over and over. I wanted to tell him how much I really loved him. But I couldn't. I had Vince. I love Vince. I couldn't have told Vince that Adam and I had been sleeping together for months. Then he definitely would have left me.

"Syd?" I heard Vince say. I quickly wiped away my tears and set my phone on the nightstand. "Yeah?" I asked. "Are you ready to go?" He asked. "Yeah," I said as I slid my phone into my back pocket and headed out of the bedroom. Vince was standing in the hallway, holding Bentley.

"Thanks for getting him dressed," I said as I grabbed Bentey from Vince. "Anything for you," Vince said before he kissed my cheek. We headed downstairs and left the house.

Adam's POV

I stormed into my house and threw my keys on the counter. Tears were falling down my face. I sent a long text to Sydney and left my phone on the coffee table.

10 minutes later, Jesse walked in the door. "Hey," Jesse said as he sat next to me. "Dude, what's wrong?" He asked. "Syd and I got caught in bed together," I said. "Her boyfriend caught you having sex?" Jesse asked. "No, he caught us lying in bed together this morning," I said. "Holy shit! Did he leave her?" Jesse asked. "No, she told him that this was the first time this ever happened. She told him that she didn't love me." I said before the tears started falling again.

"Man, I'm sorry," Jesse said. "I really thought that you two were going to get back together," He said. "Yeah, so did I," I said. "I'm a fucking idiot! These things never work out! I knew deep down in my heart that she was still upset about the car crash. She doesn't love me Jesse. She lied. She was just using me as her little playmate until her boyfriend came home. I knew all of this was too good to be true." I said.
