*Alexandria's POV*
Our girls' night was a success. We had fun, ate a bunch of snacks and just reminisced about old times. And the best part? No boys! Well... except the ones in the movies but they were okay. They were actually good boys.
...
The girls were gone and I finished cleaning up the mess we made. Once I was done, I went upstairs to get ready for the practice that I was not at all excited to go to. Vinny left for work already so I had no ride, which meant I had to walk.
I quickly tied my shoes and went downstairs, filling up water bottle and heading out.
*Peyton's POV*
I sat in the dug out and put on my cleats. All of the guys were on the field, just fooling around and talking because it was still a little early. I heard footsteps and looked behind me, seeing Alex walking my way, her long hair flowing. She came into the dugout, looking at me then walking over to the end of the other bench, sitting down, putting her hair up and changing into her cleats.
"Hey," I said to her. She replied with a plain "Hi," not bothering to look at me. Coach blew his whistle and everyone got in two lines to run a lap. I looked over at Alex again. Because we were the last two not in line, It meant we'd have to be partners. We walked over to the lines, I went to the end but Alex stopped about half way, looking at Joe.
"Joey, do you want to be partners?" She asked him. His eyes got a little wide and he pushed Andy out of line.
"Yeah, of course." He said, smiling. Andy came to the back of the line with me. Alex got beside Joe and we all began to run. After that we stretched and got back into two lines to warm up. Tyler said something to Coach and Coach called Alex over, saying that she and Andy had to switch back. She rolled her eyes but still did as told. Tyler winked at me. Alex and I passed back and forth. Each time I attempted to talk to her, she pitched a little harder.
"Come on, Alex. I'm sorry." I said sincerely.
"Why don't you tell a friend that cares? Oh wait, we aren't friends. So why don't you just go tell a friend." She threw the ball harder. I could truly feel it through my glove.
"But I didn't mean to say I didn't want to be friends. You just misunderstood..." I told her, immediately regretting it. I could practically see the fire in her eyes once the words left my lips.
"I misunderstood?! Peyton, you said 'I really don't want to be your friend.' and then you said 'I don't want you as my friend anymore.' I think there is only one way that could be understood."
"Okay, yeah, that sounds bad but—" Coach blew his whistle again, cutting me off. We all jogged back in.
"Alright guys, tomorrow we have a non-league game. I'm trying to get as many games in as I can so that we can play Ms. Moore here." He said and Alex smiled. It was so nice to see her smile since all she's done today was glare at me.
"We still need to work hard though" Coach added. "Just because this game doesn't count for our stats, it doesn't mean you guys shouldn't try your hardest. Understood?"
"Yes sir." We all said before he went into explaining the next drill. We all set up, I pitched because I was the one who was going to be pitching tomorrow. Alex threw with Jamie off the field. I couldn't help but find myself get distracted. "Peyton, pay attention!" Coach shouted. I took a deep breath and got my act together. After a bit, we switched drills and Coach took Alex and I off of the field because It was a drill for the others. He told me to help her with some new pitches. I nodded and smiled slightly. He walked away and I looked at her.
