*Peyton's POV*

I heard a beep outside. I picked up my bag and said goodbye to my mom. I walked out to the car, getting in.

"Hey Ty." I said, putting my seatbelt on.

"Hey Buddy. How are you feeling about today's game?" He asked, starting to drive again.

"I'm feeling alright, I guess. It'll be weird not playing the full game."

"Yeah, true. But at least you're leaving it to Alex. You know we're in good hands." He said, glancing over at me.

"Yeah..." I looked down at my hands then up at the road. "Wait, Tyler, where are you going? The field is in the opposite direction."

"Oh, sorry. I forgot to tell you that I was going to pick up Alex. That okay?"

"Oh, um, yeah... No problem."

"Are you sure?" He asked me, raising an eyebrow. "Because you're kind of making it seem like it's a problem." He chuckled.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I mean, she needs a ride to the game and you were nice enough to give her one. No biggie."

"Okayyy..."

Silence fell on us for a little while. I wanted to talk to him about him and Alex. I just didn't know how. I looked back down at my hands and took a breath, finally deciding to do it.

"Look Ty..." I started to say.

"What's up?"

"About Alex..." I said before trailing off again.

The car came to a stop and I could see him turn to look at me from the corner of my eye. Oh, no. I guess this is gonna be harder than I thought. He stopped the freaking car.

"What about her?" He asked.

I looked up at him to see that he was parked in front of her house. I let out a little sigh of relief after seeing that he didn't stop because of me but this meant that I had to talk fast because she'd be here any second.

"Um, it's just that you and her have been spending a lot of time together—"

"Yeah... We're friends, P. Friends hang out." He cut me off. "You and I hang out all the time."

"I know. I was just..." I trailed off again as I saw her walking out of the house and over to the car. "I just wanted to thank you for helping her get ready for the game."

"Oh." He furrowed his eyebrows. "Um, yeah. No problem, I guess. It was all her, really." He shrugged then Alex opened the door, getting into the backseat.

"Hey guys." She said to us.

"Hi." I said.

"Hey. You ready for today's game?" Tyler asked.

"So ready." She giggled, putting on her seatbelt. "I'm honestly so excited though."

"Yeah? You're not nervous?" Ty said as he started driving again.

"Oh, extremely. But I think I can handle it."

"Attagirl." Tyler chuckled and Alex laughed a bit as well.

"Thanks... besides, I've got Peyton over here, leading the way. I've got nothing to worry about." She said, touching my shoulder. I froze for a second. Oh god, the effect this girl had on me. I eventually snapped out of it and laughed a little awkwardly.
