*Peyton's POV*
I pulled into the parking lot, seeing a few people on the field and a couple in the dugout. Alex walked past my car. She was looking down at first but then she looked up, seeing me in my car. A little smile formed on both our faces as she waved to me. I watched as she walked into the dugout before finally getting out of my car. I walked around to the trunk and got out my bags before meeting them. Once I was in the dugout, I saw Tyler talking to Alex. That's new. I mean, they did talk a bit in the car yesterday, but I initiated it. Tyler turned and saw me, we did a handshake then I look at Alex, "Sooo, your brother seems..." I wanted to say intimidating. "Nice" She laughed.
"He actually is really nice, even if he doesn't seem like it." She told me.
"Peyton told us he peed his pants when he saw him at the door." Tyler said and Alex laughed again.
"I did not." I threw in, looking at her.
"It wouldn't be the first time my brother made a boy pee himself." I wanted to assume that she was kidding but at this point, I would believe it. "But in all honesty, My brother Vincent is just a big teddy bear. He wouldn't hurt a fly. He just... He's not a fan of me hanging out with boys."
"But that's all you've been doing. You're on an all boys baseball team" Ty pointed out.
"Yeah, I know. But as much as he dislikes it, He loves baseball more. He thinks it's good for me... I don't know, He's weird."
"I doubt he's as scary as Peyton made it seem." Tyler shrugged and I shook my head.
"No, he is." I told him
"He's not" Alex said after me.
"Show me a picture." Ty said. Alex rolled her eyes and turned toward her bag before coach called us all over.
"Alright Boys... and Alexandria," Coach began, "We have a game tomorrow so we really need to focus on today's practice. Also," He pulled out a uniform from his bag. "Alexandria, this is for you. We're glad to have you and I hope your glad to be here. It's the smallest one I could find so I'm hoping it works for you."
"I think I'll be fine" Alex told him.
"Great. I hope you still come tomorrow even though you can't play."
"Of Course" She replied. Coach nodded and turned to me.
"And Peyton. You were a bit smaller the last time you were here so I figured that you also," He pulled out another uniform. "May need a new one."
"And you were right. I tried on my uniform the other night and my pants look like the ones Alex has got on." I chuckle. No, that wasn't an insult. In baseball, Our pants usually reach our ankles, while in softball, they stop at the calves. Alex was wearing softball pants so... yeah. "Thanks Coach." He nodded once again before looking away at someone beginning to give a long speech about how we really need to pick it up and how he knows we're good enough to beat the team that we're playing. After about another minute or two, he set us up on the diamond, putting me on the mound and sending Alex to the Batting cages with the pitching machine. I'd look over every now and then, when I heard the sound of the ball hitting the bat.
*Alexandria's POV*
Other than the boys, calling steals and plays, It was pretty quiet, so I didn't really pay attention to what was happening outside of the batting cages. That is, until Coach yelled "Peyton, Focus!" I turned around and made eye contact with Peyton before he quickly looked away, turning his focus to the batter. I quickly dodge a ball that the machine pitched at me before running around, like a ninja might I add, and turned it off. I went picked my bat back up before lifting the net and getting out of the cage. I walked into the dugout with some of the other players. "What? Are you guys too manly to cheer around here?" I ask them. No one answered verbally but a couple shrugged. At the inning, Peyton came into the dugout and got a drink of water and I smiled at him. He smiled back and walked back onto the field. He let one batter go with a walk and was up to 3 balls and 2 strikes for the next one. I took a breath and looked around before yelling, "Let's Go Peyton. You've got this Kid!" The boys all looked at me as If I had five heads but guess what, Peyton struck him out, so they can all suck it. Maybe that was the problem for this team. No one really cheered. And even after I did, still it was silent in the dugout. I rolled my eyes. Boys...
*Peyton's POV*
I was off my game today for some reason. I kept messing up my pitches and letting them get walks. Jake stood ahead of me with his bat and the count was full. I gave Michael a walk before him. I took a deep breath and watched Jake. I was about to pitch when I heard "Let's Go Peyton. You've got this Kid!" I didn't have to look over to know who it was because well, Alex was the only girl, so it wasn't hard to figure. Everyone else looked over though. I simply smiled to myself before throwing the ball, smiling wider as I heard Coach say "Strike 3." After that, I got back on track, striking people out left and right. Maybe She Was My Good Luck Charm...
Coach peeled Jamie off of the field and sent him to warm up Alex. That meant I didn't have much time left on here today but I didn't mind too much. After a few more innings, he called Alex over, telling her to go in for me. She looked at me and shook her head.
"I can't." She said to him. They had a little discussion afterward, but it was quieter so I couldn't hear them. I just walked off of the mound and walked over to them.
"It's okay. Go." I told her and she looked at me for second before walking to the pitchers mound. She looked down at her cleats as coach put someone else at home. Alex looked him over before throwing her first pitch. "Strike." And that was the first of many. She really had an arm and as much as I didn't want to think about it. Once these 5 games were done, she would most definitely be playing for me. I just watched as she pitched. She smiled over every now and then. I eventually was up at bat and she pitched me to strikes before I hit one. But... Joe caught it at third.
Practice came to an end and everyone packed up pretty quickly. I got to my car and Alex walked past me. "Hey, do you want a ride?" She was about to answer, judging off of her lips, with a 'yes' but then we both heard someone clear their throat. We looked over and saw her brother leaning on his car. She smiled and Jogged over.
"Vinny!" She yelled.
"Hey, I got off work early and I saw those last two innings. You're killing it out there." He told her and smiled before putting her stuff in his trunk and getting into the car. "Goodbye Peyton." He said to me as I put my own bags in my trunk. My eyes widened a bit. I quickly calmed down and turned my head to look at him. "Um, Goodbye Sir." Vinny chuckled got into his car and they drove away. I got into mine, shrugging it off before going home.
