We drove in silence, neither of us talking. I texted Gabby to tell her I had an accident and was headed home for the night.
I figured he'd just drop me off and leave but he followed me upstairs and into the apartment.
"Are you sure you're okay?" He asks me once again, making me curious as to why he cared so damn much about some random girl he didn't even know.
"I'm good." I tell him making my way into my bedroom to change out of my wet clothes and into some pajamas.
I half expected him to be gone when I came out but there he was just sitting on the sofa.
"You really shouldn't have been alone at that party." He scolds me like a child.
"Listen, I'm fine, okay?" I glare at him.
"But you don't-" he starts to argue but I quickly cut him off, done with his shit tonight. I've only known this kid less then 12 hours and he was already getting on my last nerve.
"Last time I checked you aren't my fucking father."
"Whatever." He gets up and storms to the door, slamming it right behind him.
"ASSHOLE." I yell loudly, forgetting about having neighbors. I hope he heard me.
Who did he think he was? Coming into my house, treating me like a five year old. Just thinking about it was getting me angrier by the minute. Seriously what a jerk.
As mad as I was, he did help me. God knows what would have happened if he didn't show up. It was a thought I didn't care to indulge in.
"Kamryn?" I hear Gabby call out to me as she comes through the door.
"I'm right here." I yell, letting her know I was in the kitchen.
"Are you okay? Calum called Luke and told him he brought you home." She looks at me with a horrified look.
"I'm fine." I laugh at how concerned she was.
"He didn't try anything did he?" The expression on her face a mixture of fear and anger.
"No...why?" I ask, really confused now.
"Calum..." She sighs in relief before continuing. "Calum has a habit of using girls."
"Using girls?" I give her a funny look.
"Basically he sleeps with anything that has a vagina." She says not holding anything back.
"Oh..." A little taken back by her words.
"All he cares about is getting drunk and sex....that's part of the reason why I hate Luke hanging out with him." She admits.
"Wow." I didn't know what else to say.
Sure he acted like a tool, but was he really as bad as she was making him out to be?
"So just be careful. If he tries anything let me know and I'll have Luke kick his ass." She laughs.
"Will do." I giggle, leaving to go back to my room.
I had so much shit I still needed to unpack, so I get started going through some of the boxes. After hanging up some posters and pictures of me and my mom, exhaustion quickly took over.
After a long day, and a potentially really scary night, I decide its my best bet to get some rest. Figuring I'd do the rest tomorrow, or whenever I found the time.
As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light.
-
A light knock on the door makes me jolt awake. "Come in?" I answer groggily.
"Hi." Calum says standing in my doorway.
"Uhh...hello?" I rub my eyes to make sure I'm seeing this correctly.
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for overreacting yesterday." He bites his lip like it was really hard for him to say.
"Its okay." I mumble sleepily.
"Okay...well I'm going to go." He says awkwardly.
Okay, what the hell was that?
Gabby had class so I was on my own today. After showering and throwing on some jean shorts and a black v-neck, I head out to go exploring. The whole city was right here in the palm of my hands, I just had to figure out what to do first. When I step outside and feel the ridiculously warm temperature, way different then the normally chilly New York weather, I decide on laying out at the beach for awhile.
The beach was crowded, It was kind of hard to find a spot, but luckily I see an open area near the shore. I set a blanket up and lay down, the sun feeling amazing on my pale skin. I really must've still been tired from being woke up this morning because ten minutes into tanning I closed my eyes for a second and wake up 2 hours later. Looking like a lobster would be an understatement.
After gathering my things I start my walk home, taking a quick shortcut through the park by my apartment building. I stop dead in my tracks when I hear a soft voice singing.
"Looking on as all of life's colors seem to fade to gray, I just walked away. I was already missing before the night I left, just me and your shadow and all of my regrets. Who am I? Who am I when I don't know myself? Who am I? Who am I? Invisible."
The lyrics so deep and meaningful, I was transcended. I look over to see who the angel singing was, my eyes not believing who I saw.
Calum.
