Chapter 20:

(Ten years later, Cameron's Point of View)

It's been ten years, and my heart still aches whenever I think of her. I should be happy, having set up a successful business already at my young age. My dad had gone back to France, because of his illness.

Christmas is coming. I window shop for my friends and I'm wondering what to get them, when a petite blonde catches my eye. All these years, I've been seeing Hayden everywhere, but after a few years, I've gave up, but I know that's her. That's most definitely her.

I enter the shop and my heart pound faster and faster as I walk towards her, but then suddenly my eyes focus.

She's not alone.

She's blissfully happy. A tall, muscular man has his arm around her waist, and a little dirty blonde kid of two holding her hand, tugging it and going "Mama! Look at that!" She looks down at the kid, tossing her head back in laughter, then bends down and murmurs something in their ear.

I stand as an outsider looking in. She's not who she was when I promised to look for her. I continue just staring at her, and when she finally looks up, she catches my eye and she freezes.

We look at each other, my heart slowly breaking.
