Chapter 4
I was at my locker arranging my books, as usual. Another day, and I wished this day would be better than yesterday.
"Alexis!" I jumped as Megan called me.
"Sorry, girl! Why are you so tense?" She put her hand on my forehead to check if I had a fever. I pushed her hand away, "I'm not sick, Megs. " I closed my locker and faced her.
"You seemed different," She opened her locker and got her books.
"Me? Different? How so?" I asked her, checking my watch.
"Yesterday? At lunch?" She closed her locker and faced me with her serious face.
I laughed at her answer. Literally. She hit me soft to make me stop but I didn't. I was still laughing and she joined me.
"Aah! Alexis, you're contagious!" We were still laughing a little bit and started walking. That was what I love in Megan, she did not take anything seriously, but she had her limits, of course.
"Oh wait. Wait. Wait," Megan was now in front, stopping me from walking. Both of her hands were resting on my shoulders.
"What?" I giggled.
"You know the guy that sat in our table yesterday?" She asked me. I nodded. "Well, he's the one I was talking about!" She continued. I was stunned. I never expected it, of course. Trent was all nice and all of a sudden I figured out from Megan that he was a bad boy. Now this guy was a mystery. I really wanted to know the real him.
"You almost choked when you saw him, Megs," I laughed and stepped aside to start walking again.
She reached me and hit me a little with her elbow. "Have you seen him? He's SO hot!" She said emphasizing 'so'. "But I don't know. He's a little bit mystery. A lot are talking about him today." She finished.
I love mystery.
"He's my classmate in history. And UNfortunately, he's also Anthony's friend," I said out of nowhere. I fixed the books I was holding. As usual, Megan was shocked to the revelations I had said (revelations? Haha!) "Anyway, this is my room. See you later." I waved at her and went into the room.
It was already lunch and I didn't see Trent. He didn't even attend our history class. Part of me was happy and part of me was...sad? I didn't know why but I felt like I wanted to see him. The effect he had on me was different. Different from Cal before. I never looked for Cal back then. He just appeared. And what was weirder? It has been only a day! I hadjust met him yesterday and we didn't talk much. But I tell you, he was so peculiar.
When I helped him made the posters yesterday, he kept on smiling without any reason. I didn't have any idea what he was thinking. I thought he was a lunatic, that was why he'd been expelled from almost in every school here. Or maybe he had attitude issues. He was just so odd.
"....so what do you think?" I hear Megan suddenly asked. I didn't even notice her sitting in front of me.
"Uhh.. Sorry, what?"
"Nevermind. It's not important anyway," I felt guilty as soon as she replied. She kept on playing at her fries that was now scattered on her plate.
"Megs, I'm so-" I started.
"What happened to you?" She cut me off. I just stared at her, surprised at her question.
"I-I.." I tried answering her. She was keep on playing at her fries. "Look, Megan..." I sighed. "I have something to tell you. I-" she cut me off again--what was with people cutting me off every time?
