Chapter 6

I heard my alarm clock rang several times now but I was still so sleepy. I couldn't sleep last night. So much had happened and I needed time to absorb everything. But I had to get up though, and get ready for school. It was just the start of the school year and I didn't want to attend school anymore. I just wanted to stay at home and tweet random stuffs like what fangirls do.

I got up on my bed and opened my door a little bit, so that my mom wouldn't knock like she was breaking down my door again. I could hear three voices talking downstairs but not sure what they were talking about. I could hear Anthony saying 'yes' loudly, like he was agreeing to what my mom or the other person said. Then I heard that someone said 'no', more like a shout. It was a familiar voice, actually. It wasn't Dad, and it definitely wasn't Josh. So I think the voice belongs to...*gulp* Trent.

I was already done getting ready so I started walking downstairs. I already reached the kitchen and the three of them looked at me. Awkward. Mom was in front of them cleaning the counter-top, while Anthony was sitting on the bar along with Trent. *sigh* Trent. What was he doing here? We locked gazes and I felt uncomfortable so I looked away from him first.

Luckily, mom had this power to sense awkwardness, she said, "well, you kids better go. You'll be late." Then she resumed cleaning the counter-top.

I turned around and walked out to the car. I sat in the backseat, of course. Trent sat in the passenger seat. It would be awkward if I had sat there, I mean, they were gonna chat and I was gonna be like, the "invisible girl".

We arrived at school but I didn't even notice it. I was daydreaming, as usual. I went straight to my classroom since I didn't have anything to get in my locker. I stopped by at Megan's and I the-so-called lounge--the stairs near our locker. But she was not there so I texted her to just see her at lunch.

"There you are!" Trent made me jump.

"Sorry," He chuckled. I didn't dare to look at him because I felt awkward. After what happened yesterday, everything seemed to be so different. I continued walking towards my classroom and Trent was still following me, but not talking. I already entered our classroom and sat down on my usual seat, while he sat beside me. Mr. Salvatore arrived and announced a pop quiz. Great. Just great.

I saw Megan so I approached her at our usual table. She looked so stressed today. She didn't greet me, she was just looking at her plate and playing with whatever food on her plate. I didn't know how to comfort her though. She was the one who was good at it. I couldn't stand her quietness so I interrupted her thoughts.

"Megs, what's up?" I said in my most caring voice. She finally looked up at me with her reddened-eyes, fresh from her crying.

"Are you ok? What happened?" I followed up in my seriously caring voice. I didn't know what happened to her. She was totally fine yesterday then now she was not.

"I-I..." She started with a shaky voice. There were tears swelled up in her eyes. "I'm so gonna miss you, Alex!" She was now crying. More like sobbing. I sat beside her and hugged her.

"What are you talking about?" I asked her.

"My mom told me yesterday that we're moving. And this time, it's permanent. We're not coming back, Alex," She sobbed more. I didn't know what to say. I would not be able to see my one and only best friend.

Her mom worked in a company that I didn't know, I really didn't ask her about it. And I didn't need to know either. (I know, we were weird.) Her mom was being assigned to different places and Megan was always coming along with her. Megan's mother let her stay here because she didn't want to transfer schools and I was here. Megan's only child so she didn't have a choice but to follow her mom around. She was like the assistant of her mom. And her father? He left them to work abroad.
