Chapter 8
There was a happy family in the picture. It seemed they took the picture in a studio. They all looked nice. In fact, they were a beautiful family. When you look at their smiles, you could tell they were living in a perfect world and they were a perfect family. The man who I assumed was the father was well-groomed, he was wearing a nice tux and a tie that made his eyes pop. A beautiful woman was seated beside him who I assumed was the mother, she was wearing a white beautiful dress and her hair was perfectly curled, her make-up was just right, not too light, not too dark. There were twins seated in front of them, one girl and one boy. The girl was wearing a white dress too, just like her mother. The boy was wearing a tux matching with his father. His hair was brunette just like his mother, and he got his father's eyes.
That child,
He looked just like...
Trent.
He looked so happy in the picture. There were other pictures where both of them were playing in the park. He looked like a happy kid, he looked like he couldn't do what he did to me that night. But he did. I could tell that he was changed. He may be looked like a hottie now, but I could feel that he got deepest darkest secrets. For whatever reason it was, it certainly changed Trent to what he was now.
"Alex?" Megan was trying to get my attention from the picture. I haven't realized I was staring at it for so long.
"Yeah?"
"You okay?"
"Uhmm...yeah." I looked at her and nodded. "This house is so beautiful!" I smiled at her, trying to make a conversation.
"Yeah... it... is." She looked around the place and agreed with me.
I was just staring at her and there she was looking gobsmacked as she stared at something or to someone. I furrowed my brows in confusion and patiently waited for her to look at me. She nudged my elbow so I shifted my head and looked at the way of her eyes. Then that was when I saw a tall, brunette, very good-looking guy. He wore a white shirt that fits him just right and you could see the bulk of his muscles through the fitted white shirt. He wore just a washed-out jeans that fits him perfectly too, and sneakers. His hair was a little bit messy but still nice.
He was making his way through the small crowd towards us. As he passed, some guests greeted him and some didn't seem to notice him. I was just looking at him, gobsmacked too, just like Megan was. I swore if there were hidden cameras in here, the people who was in charge of those were laughing their asses off because I swore we looked like we've just seen a ghost. A good-looking ghost, would be accurate. He was getting closer now, and his lips were slightly curving up to a grin.
Then suddenly, I was jerked awake by the two voices shouting behind us. It was getting nearer and nearer. I was half way in looking at our backs until I was hit by a running jock still shouting. I screamed then stretched out my right arm to avoid my face hitting the floor but my shoulder didn't seem to support my weight because of the impact when I was hit and my feet didn't move, so I fell to the ground with my face and body lying flat. My right arm was stuck under me, so it hurt a lot. I think I broke my arm too.
"Oh my god!" I heard Megan yelled.
I tried to look up but my neck hurt then it automatically slammed back a little on the floor. I saw a few people curiously gathered around me and I could see Trent walked just a few large strides and he already reached me. I tried to get up and Trent helped me, while Megan, my bestest friend, just stared at me with wide eyes and mouth open. Oh Megan.. Trent slightly pulled my right arm for support and I winced.
"Does it hurt?" He looked at me straight into the eyes. His eyes becomes dark, but full of worry. I just nodded in response because I knew for sure I couldn't talk. First, I was still in shock of what happened. Second, it bothered me that he worried about me. I didn't know why, but it did bother me.
