Chapter 14 (not yet edited)

I didn’t think Cal would tease me about it. But it really is creepy. We kept talking about our past, about how we end up together, how he courted me, and how we end things together. It’s not awkward though, we just laughed about it. Then, we talked what we were doing back then and I feel like everything we’ve been through is now just a waste. Although I didn’t regret letting Cal go, because it was his life that would be ruined if I didn’t. My life is not ruined too, anyway. So basically, I didn’t ruin anyone’s life. But I would really appreciate it if Cal fought for me, if he didn’t let Josh control him. Then, both of us would be happy.

Snap it out, Alexis!

Past is past.

Then there’s the voice in the back of my head. It’s right though. Past is past. I could never go back and change everything that had happened. Besides, everything happens for a reason. But I still don’t know the reasons behind it.

I looked at my car parked behind us to check on it. I noticed a black Ford parked next to it. There’s a man sitting at the driver’s seat and looking at the playground, or probably searching on someone. I turned around and positioned myself looking at it to make it not so obvious that I’m watching him. Cal didn’t mind and he just kept talking about the schools he wants to transfer in next year.

I couldn’t get a clear look of the man’s face. But I could tell he’s in his late 20’s maybe. Too young to have a seven-year-old playing in the playground, I think. But I can’t judge just by looking at him. His face is turning from right to left and left to right until our eyes met. He held his gaze on me while he rolls down his window. He has black hair and it’s properly fixed. He has green eyes and it became darker when his window is fully down and he just continues to stare at me. His features made me remember of someone.

Gulp.

“Hey, Cal,” I nudge his side using my elbow, never breaking my gaze on the man in the black sleek car.

“..and you’re back, where did you go?” He nudges me back. “You know, I’m not going to repeat my story to you,”

“That guy,” I nod toward the black car. “looks just like Josh,” I finished. Once again, I’m never breaking my gaze on the man. He looks from me to Cal then back to me.

“Josh?” He said calmly.

Now, the man is rolling his windows up. Oh thank God. I’m starting to freak out a little with our mini creepy staring contest.

“We should go.” I stood up and walked towards my car. Just when I thought the man is leaving, he didn’t. Instead, he went out of his car and walked towards me. I immediately stopped in my tracks and Cal bumped my back. I don’t know what to do. He really looks like Josh. If he is Josh, we’ll be dead. If he is not, then we’ll be safe. But why is he giving me a feeling that he is somehow connected to Josh?

I didn’t know what else to do so I grabbed Cal’s hand and I ran. Yes, I ran. I ran around the tree and ran straight to my car. The man followed us around the tree, so he’s behind us.

“Hey! Hey!” The man called.

Cal pulled me against him that caused me to stop running. We’re right in front of my car now and I have no idea why won’t he just get in and we’ll leave. He turned around facing the man that looks like Josh. His hand is placed at the small of my back and it somehow gives me comfort and calms me down a little.

“Sorry to freak you out,” The man reached us now. He looks like Josh. Looking at this distance, I can tell that he’s not Josh, but they have similarities.
