We're now in Arizona after a six hour drive and just a few hours away from California. I'm debating on if I should make a run for it when Aaron tells me the answers I want from him. I don't want to be around someone who kidnapped me and hasn't told me for over sixteen years. Aaron has yet, to answer any of my questions and I'm getting really agitated by it. All I need to know is if my mother is really dead and if I'm the little girl that's been missing for over thirteen years.
"Aaron you still haven't answered any of my questions. Just to let you know, if I don't get any answers from you by tonight I'm calling the police. So I would suggest that you just tell me everything right now or later before tonight." I threaten him. Aaron just looks at me through the rearview mirror and I smirk at him. The look on his face is priceless as hell.
"How about this? When we get to the hotel I'll tell you anything that you want to know. Is that fine?" he asks.
"It would be an honor." I say sarcastically. He nods and focuses back on the road.
I have to remind myself when we get to the hotel that I need to have a recording on to record everything he says. You know, just in case he gives me the wrong information.
We have two more hours until we get to Phoenix so I'm stuck in the car with Aaron. To waste time I grab my phone and start watching shows on my MTV app. I decided to watch old episodes of Teen Wolf from Season 4.
Three episodes later were now twenty minutes away from the hotel and I start to straighten up the backseat. I had trash and my blankets were everywhere. It looked like I lived in the backseat for about three years. Once I finished straightening the backseat up, I got back on my phone and continued to watch Teen Wolf for the rest of the ride. The twenty minutes went by surprisingly quick and I was relieved to be out of the car finally.
Aaron grabbed our bags out of the trunk and we entered the hotel. Aaron checked us in and the lady gave him our key and we went upstairs to find our room. I was happy that there were two beds. I would have just slept on the floor or the bed inside of the couch.
I sat on top of my bed and began texting Julian. I missed him so much. I wish, we could be together right now instead being stuck with someone I don't even know anymore. Aaron sets his keys on the little nightstand and sit on his bed, rubbing his face.
Don't get comfortable now, buddy.
"So I'm ready to listen to everything you have to say." I speak up. Aaron looks over at me and I can tell that he's annoyed but I don't care. I'm going to get some answers and I'm going to get them right now. He runs his fingers through his slick hair and sighs. He gets up and starts walking over to my side of the room.
"Alright, here goes nothing." he mumbles to himself. Jesus, help me now.

I was nervous as hell about what he was getting ready to tell me. What if he really isn't my father? My heart is beating so fast, right now it feels like its going to explode in any second. I grab my phone and press the record button.
"When you were about two you were abandoned by your mother out in the woods. That same night I was out there and heard a baby crying. I listened closely to where the cries were coming from and heard that it was coming from the lake. The car was slowly sinking underneath the water so immediately I jumped in and pulled you out before you drowned. Once we made it back to the surface and I held you in my arms you stopped crying. I dried you off before you caught a cold and wrapped you in some warm clothes. I searched the whole woods looking for your mother but there was no sign of anyone in the woods. After that I couldn't let you go and raised you as my own." Aaron explained. "So, I actually didn't kidnap you."
Tears swelled in my eyes and I couldn't even speak. Aaron was actually telling the truth the whole time. He really didn't kidnap me. He actually saved me.
"Why didn't you go to the police?" I finally managed to ask.
"Because I couldn't resist putting you through more hell. Your mother abandoned you. That's hard for a baby to go through that." he says. Tears poured down my face. I couldn't help but to cry.
"Ava I need to call the police and tell them that you're alive and doing fine." he tells me.
"Not right now. Can we just wait until we get back home?" I ask.
"Yeah. I can't keep living with this guilt. I should've told you a few years ago but I didn't want to hurt you." his voice cracks. I hugged him and pulled him closer to me.
"Dad its ok. Either way if you told me back then or now I still would've been hurt but I'm actually ok." I say. "You'll always be my father in my heart and I'll always love you."
"I love you Ava." he sobs on my shoulder.
"I love you too." A single tear rolled down my cheek.
No matter if he did or didn't kidnap me he took care of me for fourteen years. He's been the only father figure in my life and I couldn't ask for a better father. He's the only man that's been there for me. Nobody else. He could've left me to drown but he took me in as his own and I'm very thankful for that.
For the rest of the night I stayed on my phone. I called Yamile and told her about the whole kidnapping situation. She was in much shock than I was.
"What if you get removed? How are we going to see each other?" Yamile asked frantically.
"Yami, we'll find a way to see each other. Don't panic." I reassure her. "I'm pretty sure if I get removed I'll be staying with some relatives, who live in Texas because I've lived out there for most of my life."
"Alright. I just don't want to lose my best friend."
"You won't lose me Yamile. Hopefully, I'll get a car before the summer is over and we can still go to the same school together depending on how far away the school is."
"Don't give me ideas." Yamile laughs. We stayed on the phone for hours talking about anything that came to mind.
