Chapter 4
                              Cassie P.O.V
I watched Josh talk to Derek, a dorky kid from my bus. My heart filled with pride as I watched Josh tell Derek it was okay. Josh was nice that way. He was nice to everyone, but I was pretty sure that was the only reason he talked to me.
He was too popular and so was his girlfriend. Maria. I watched him and Maria interact and each word they spoke was a new scar my heart had, but I couldn't turn away. I was well aware of a concerned Lucy looking at my face for any reactions as I stared at the both of them, and I knew I was hurting her. She always hurt when someone else was hurting, but I couldn't help it.
I watched as Maria whispered something in his ear and both of the slip away. That's when I managed to turn away. I knew what they were going to do, and that hurt me the most.
"Are you okay?" asked a worried Lucy.
"Yeah, its just a little crush. I'll get over it. Besides he's obviously happy, and that makes me happy," I lied. Well, it wasn't completely a lie. Josh WAS happy, and that made me less sad. But he wasn't just a crush, and Lucy knew that, but Lucy was like a child. She didn't understand the concept of lying.
"Oh, okay. Good for you then," she said.
"Yeah, goods for me," I murmured, but Lucy didn't catch it.
                              "Hmmm?"
"I was just saying how much I like your shirt," I lied again. Wow, two lies in one minute. I was on a roll today.
"Really? I wasn't so sure if I was going to wear this because you know winter is just around the corner and I was thinking I would start using blue sparkles instead of pink, but...," she trailed on, but all I saw were her lips moving but no sound coming out. I had a really bad habit of tunning people out.
"Cassie. Cassie! Did you hear what I said?" Lucy asked. Oops, got caught. Lucy hated, I mean, disliked (because Lucy didn't hate) when I tuned her out.
"Ugh, yeah... You were just,um,talking about..." I started to say, trying to think of a good enough guess of what she had been saying. That's when I realized something. This was Lucy we were talking about. There was only one thing she could be talking about...
"You were talking about sparkles," I answered, feeling pretty sure about myself. Lucy frowned, indicating that I was right, but that she wasn't comfortable accusing me of guessing. She opened her mouth, and I waited for the motherly scolding, but it never came.
Instead, Lucy at something above my head, smiled, and said, "Hi!"
I frowned in confusion. Why was she saying hi? I turned around, and my question was answered. Behind me was the school's biggest nobody: Zachary Lee.
Zachary wasn't really a loser. He wasn't a totally dweeb either. He just wasn't anybody. His grades weren't A's but he wasn't failing at all. He seemed like he'd be good in sports but he wasn't interested in any, and he wasn't in any extracurricular activities either. His looks weren't to die for but he was far from ugly. He could actually break a couple of hearts if he wanted to, but he wasn't interested in dating.
Well, that was a lie because...
"Hello, Lucy," he said calmly, but he wasn't looking at her.
"Hello there stranger," he said to me. His gaze was pointed straight at me. His blue eyes bore into mine, and they said a million things. One of those things was...
                              He was still interested me.
I found the urge to squirm in my seat at his gaze, but I stayed still, and stared at him back. But in his eyes all I saw was what happened earlier this summer. It had been a summer camp for the Independent Teens of Today, and even til this day I don't understand why he was there and why he had been interested in me...

Romance"There's no other for me," he said, and took my face in my hands. Before I knew it, he was kissing me and I was kissing him back. That's when it hit me like a ton of bricks. I had never been kissed before. I had been saving myself for the boy I tru...
