I quickly jogged back to our dining room because I was just too hungry and I could already smell the food that my mom cooked for us.

“Ugh, I’m starving” I grunted as I sat beside my mom.

“How’s Vic?” My mom asked as she looked at me.

“He’s, he’s fine. He’s sleeping” I replied as I started getting food and placing it on my plate.

“So Kellin, how’s summer so far?” Vic’s dad asked.

“Um, good I guess.”

Can we just stop talking for a while? I am too hungry but they’ve been asking a lot of questions.

“By good, you mean locking yourself in the house?” My mom said with a hint of sarcasm

“Why would I want to go out of the house? I have my laptop, we have food, and I can survive here.” I joked

“That’s all you do all day, Kellin”

“It’s summer, mom. It’s my time to chill.” I said as I chew on my food.

“You and Vic can hang during your summer break.” Mr. Fuentes finally spoke.

“Yeah, I think that’s a great idea!” My mom added.

“Well..” I was cut off by a familiar voice.

“KELLIN, LOOK. LOVELY COLORS EVERYWHERE.” The three of us froze, confused.

I am going to be so fucked if they discover that I was just covering for Vic.

“Oh, he’s just, um, playing with a game that I showed him in my laptop! Yes that’s it” I lied.

“I think I should go and check on him.” His dad looked a little serious

“Sleepover! Can Vic stay here tonight? I mean, we’re quite getting along and, and, um, he’s still sick so it would be bad for him if you drive him back to your house. I mean, isn’t that quite a long ride?”

My mom agreed. “That sounds good. It’s quite late anyways.”

“I’m glad you boys are getting along” Vic’s dad said with a warm smile.

I ate the last mouthful left on my spoon and quickly got up from my chair.

“I’ll go check on Vic, kay?” I shouted while I was jogging to my room.

I opened the door and I saw Vic lying on my bed.

“Okay so you’ll stay here for the night.” I said

“Oh, Kellin. You’re so clingy. I like it.” He said with a small laugh.

“Okay you know what, I saved your ass tonight. So just, shut the fuck up.”

“Woah, sorry. I didn’t mean to piss you off”

“You better be sorry. You owe me for all the cover ups I made.”

“Yeah yeah. Don’t worry” He said as he rolled his eyes and sighed.

“So, are you saner now?” I asked looking down at him with my arms crossed, still scanning through his face, looking for any sign of drug or highness.

“I don’t know. I mean, I guess. My head hurts though.”

“Okay. Just, lay there and I’ll get you medicine.”

I walked towards my bathroom and opened the cabinet to look for the medicine.

“Here.” I handed it to him as he sat. “Be right back. I’ll just get you a glass of water. Please just stay there. Don’t do anything stupid.”
