“Vic! I have to go to an appointment today. Mike’s going with me to have his suit fitted”
The loud shout of my dad from the other side of my bedroom door snapped me out from my thoughts.
It has been exactly two weeks since my birthday or should I say the most excruciating night of my life. I like Kellin, so much. Maybe more than I should have liked him. But ever since he told me that he doesn’t want to see me. I painfully sucked it up and accepted it. I didn’t bother to visit him since then. Although I called him a couple more times but that’s it. It has been over a week since I last left him a voice message.
I didn’t even know that I could survive a whole week without talking to him. But hey, I did. After that week, I once again got in touch with the guy who supplied me my drugs back then. Kellin made me stop to do drugs and I miraculously survived without it for a month. But I guess I didn’t want depression to swallow me alive so I’ve decided to once again call the guy.
“Vic, we’re heading out. You okay, bud?” I heard Mike as he knocked on my door. Of course I didn’t want him to see me look high as fuck so I gathered all of my remaining energy to shout him back a reply.
“Yes. I’m good. You shoulg g-go. I don’t want you to g-get late to your appointment” I said with a chuckle.
“Uh, okay.” He replied in a soft voice. “But, Vic?”
“Yeah?”
“If anything’s wrong.. Please do not hesitate on talking to me about it.. Please?”
I hate it when this happens. I know it every time that Mike senses that something is going on with me. He would act like he’s the older brother and he’ll lecture me about life and my wrong decisions.
“Yeah. Sure. Whatever.” I said with a laugh. I couldn’t really control my laughing since I locked myself in my bedroom the entire day. I haven’t really eaten anything in 2 days although I felt really really hungry.
Once I heard our front door close, I pulled myself off from my bed and headed towards my bathroom to wash my face a little bit. My vision was a bit blurry so it was quite a struggle to even walk. I stumble on a few things but I easily made it to my bathroom.
I stood infront of the mirror for a while. I squinted my eyes and rubbed it a couple of times, hopefully to make my vision a little bit clearer.
“What a mess.” I whispered as I once again giggled at my own reflection. My eyes were a little bit red and I could clearly see the black circles that formed under my eyes. I let the cold water linger on my fingers as opened the faucet. I played with the water for a little while until I heard my stomach grumble. I gathered up an amount of water in my hands and splashed it on my face. I did it a couple more of times as I finally felt relieved.
I grabbed a warm towel on my way out of the room and dried my face up.
I shakily approached our fridge, hoping that a huge buffet would be in there. Unfortunately, it’s almost empty. I grunted in frustration because I was desperately hungry and all I really wanted was to eat. My stomach once again let out a loud growl. I sighed as I realized that I should probably just head to a store and buy my own food.
I grabbed the ‘emergency money’ that we kept in an empty fish bowl, wore my favorite cap and headed towards the front door.
It’s quite chilly outside for a summer day. I realized that I’ve never came out from the house for more than a week now. But still, everything looks the same. Same old, boring neighborhood.
I felt the cold air rush over my skin as I entered the store. I grabbed a little shopping cart and pushed it in between the isles. I grabbed a couple of party sized chips and a loaf of bread and decided to go and grab a couple of beers because reasons.
