Do You Love Me? - Warning: Angst Ahead!
You breezed into the classroom, holding your bento in one hand, the other making make-believe binoculars looking for your boyfriend, Tsukishima Kei. You spotted him chatting with Yamaguchi. As you skipped towards with him, Yamaguchi spotted you and waved. You reached Kei's desk, and sat down on a nearby chair. You turned to Tsukishima, smiling, "Hey Tsuki~ can I wait for you after volleyball practice?" He nodded, not turning his head towards you. You pouted. He rolled his eyes at you and reached over to ruffle your hair.
After clubs/school ...
" Hey Kei!" You waved at Tsukishima from the school gates. He walked over to you, headphones over ears. You two exited out of school, your arm linked around his.
The sun slowly sank down behind the mountains as you crossed the streets. You fiddled your fingers around your uniform, pondering in your head if you should ask Tsuki the question that had kept you up all week. You made up your mind. The green light ticked away above your head. You turned and faced your boyfriend.
"Tsukishima Kei, do you love me?"
He turned to you, his headphones wrapped around his neck. He glanced to the side, not meeting your eyes. A long moment of silence passed. You turned your tear brimmed eyes away from him.
" I knew it, I knew it." You remembered your confession to him. How surprised and shocked he looked. And how happy you were when he accepted it. " You never really loved me, did you?" You spun around and ran out onto the road, not noticing that green had switched to red. Through your tear stained vision, you saw a truck rushing towards you. As the view around you turned black, you whispered at the star covered sky,
" I truly loved you, Tsukishima Kei."
The megane boy sank to his knees, staring at your broken figure, lying on the street. The crowds were screaming, the cars were stopping, but none of that reached him. He felt numb. Was it winter? Your favorite season? Was it Thursday? Your favorite day of the week? Was this the taste of mint ice cream on his tounge? Your favorite food? But there was only one thing he could be certain of.
You were dead. You were dead. You are dead.
He saw a crumbled ribbon lying on the ground next to your outstreched hand. It was your birthday gift from him to you. He felt his feet moving on their own towards your body. He knelt down next to you, staring at your open eyes, the sky reflecting off of your glassy irises. Right now, it looked as if you had an entire galaxy in your eyes. A tear dropped onto your now pale and lifeless cheeks. He screamed, a slient scream up to the darkened sky. He glanced down at you, whispering,
" I didn't even get to say I love you."
