It is now summer and I'm back in Dallas, but Cody is in Europe playing for team Canada at the World Championship. At least he gets to play more hockey after the Stars failed to make the Playoffs.
I remember when I got the call from Cody saying that he'll be playing for team Canada. He said "Hey Allie, I'm sorry I won't be in Dallas when you get back because I will be in Europe. I'm playing in the World Championship." and I replied "OH MY GOSH! Cody, congratulations. I'm so proud of you." He doesn't understand how proud of him I am. Seeing him excel at the game he loves makes me so happy.
Time skip-Gold Medal game
Today, I was watching the Gold Medal Game of the IIHF World Hockey Championship between Canada and Russia. Cody was on the fourth line for Canada along with Patrick Wiercioch, Sean Couturier, Tyler Ennis and Tyler Toffoli. When I saw Canada win, I had tears of joy in my eyes. I'm so proud of Cody and all the he has accomplished.
Later in the day I got a call from Cody. "Hey Cody, congratulations." I said and he replied "Hey Allie, thanks. I owe it all to you and my dad." His comment about owing his success to his father and I made me smile, but I have no idea what I've done for him besides support him.
