Today, I went back to Wisconsin for my spring semester of my junior year at the University of Wisconsin. Cody took me to the airport, and saying bye to him was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Saying bye to the one you love is hard enough, but when you live in different states and the one you love is a professional hockey player, it's even harder due to their constant traveling.
Seeing the look on Cody's face made my heart break even more. He looked extremely sad, and I hate seeing him upset. He's my friend and I care about him. I just wish I could get off this plane and go be with him, but I can't because I have to go back to school.
Thankfully I'm a sports management major, and one of our assignments coming up is to shadow a General Manager of our choice for one week. I already know I want to shadow Jim Nill, the GM of the Dallas Stars. It's a good thing I have connections with the team due to Cody playing for them and Anna's sister Carrie being Jim Nill's assistant, because without them I wouldn't have anyone to talk to on the team.
When I got to my dorm it hit me that after this semester, I only have one more year of College. After that, I'm off to the real world, and it makes me think about how fast this time has gone. These past few years have been the best years I've ever had. All the friends I've made have made it this way for me. I just wish Cody was here to experience this with me.
