Today was a big day on campus. We had our National Championship celebration in our home arena. I wasn't expecting that many people to be there because of the fact that we don't have a big following, but when I saw how many people were in our arena to celebrate our National Championship with us, I noticed that the building was completely filled.
When we were announced by our PA announcer, we could hear our fans scream. I could see that everyone on our team had tears in their eyes, but they were tears of joy. As I walked out, I looked around to see how many people showed up to help us celebrate.
Shortly after everyone was introduced, our captain Kayla Messer gave an amazing speech. In her speech she thanked the fans for their support, and she thanked our former teammates for being great teammates, mentors, and friends. She also thanked our coaches and families for getting us to where we are now.
After the celebration, we went to our coach's house to celebrate more. I looked around to see if coach invited anyone outside the team and our families. As soon as I saw Cody, I ran straight into his arms, wrapped my arms around his neck, and said "Cody, I'm so glad you're here." As he wrapped his arms around my waist, he replied "I wouldn't have missed this for the world." We stood there for a few minutes in each other's arms.
I love being in Cody's arms. There's something about being in Cody Eakin's arms that makes me feel safe. I'm absolutely in love with Cody Eakin, but I don't think he feels the same way. Why would he? I'm a nerd, especially when it comes to hockey. All I do in my spare time is study, watch YouTube and Hockey, and play video games.
