Tonight was our home season opener against Boston University. I was so excited for this game because Cody said that he was going to be there and I finally get to play a real game of hockey again. It has been so long since I got to play a real game of hockey because I injured my knee in the playoffs this past season.
Before the game started, our PA (Public Address) Announcer welcomed the fans and students by saying " Ladies and gentleman, welcome to opening night here at the Kohl Center. Now please welcome your 2015-16 WISCONSIN BADGERS." We skated out as we heard our fans screaming. Shortly after we came out, our PA announcer introduced our team and Coaching staff.
Kayla Messer won the opening draw back to Mary Nielson, who skated into our opponents zone and passed the puck to her defense partner Brianna Baker at the left point. Brianna takes a shot and hits the outside of the right post, but Brittany Colbertson picks up the rebound and scores.
We end up winning the game 5-0 thanks to an outstanding performance by Julianne Miller in goal. Our defensemen also had great performances. I guess you could say we wanted to give our fans a show on opening night.
Author's Note
I am extremely sorry that I haven't updated this story in a while. I have been through a lot these last few months. I lost my job back in January, but things are starting to look up again. I FINALLY got my learner's permit back in March (I say finally because I'm almost 21.) I also got a new job recently.
Thank you so much for sticking with me through this.
