Bethany was lying on her bed, blasting Ke$ha's new CD, staring at the ceiling. She had been bored all week, and hadn’t been brave enough to go to the beach. But everyday she looked out her window for the hot guy, Matt, she reminded herself, and never saw him again. She had gone shopping before she moved, and was stressing over what to where on the first day of school tomorrow.
She jumped off of her bed, and walked to her closet, nervously raking through the clothes for the hundredth time. She needed something that showed off how well built she was, but nothing too revealing. She didn't want people to get the idea that she was a s--- on the first day. And she wanted something girly, but that also had a edge to it, to show people sure, she was sensitive, but don’t think you can walk all over her. She'd all ready decided she was going to leave her hair it’s natural state; perfectly curly. She would just add some product to make it even beautifuler. She wouldn’t do super heavy make-up, but not super light either.
She sighed and walked out of her closet, over to her dresser. She opened the jean drawer, and decided yes on skinny jeans. But she couldn’t decide which wash until she had the shirt. She picked her top three, and laid them on her bed. She started trying on the shirts, to figure out which one to wear.
The first one was a peasant top, dark brown with embroidered flowers near the neckline. It looked good, but was a bit loose for her taste, so she took it off and threw it in the corner of her room. The second was long-sleeve lightweight, and was hot pink with thin navy blue horizontal stripes. She thought it would be cute with her navy blue shorts. But it would be too hot for that. The third one was perfect, she thought, and right then and there she saw the entire outfit in her head.
She smiled at herself in the mirror, before taking it off and laying it on the bed. She was walking over to her closet to get the shirt she was previously wearing when she heard a guy say, "Dude!" outside her window. She looked down and saw a guy looking up at her, through her open window. She hadn’t realized she'd left it open. When the other guy looked up, she nearly fell over; it was Matt and his friend Patrick. Looking at her. In her bra! "S---!" she said before running into her closet, blushing like crazy. She threw on her shirt and primped her hair, before walking back to her window smiling.
But when she got back to it, the guys weren’t there. But she could’ve sworn she could here their laughter bellowing in the distance.

Margaret and Lucie were in Lucie's room, getting ready for the in-kid's bonfire tonight. It was sort of a tradition; there was a bonfire every year the night before the first day of school for all the popular kids. No one really knew who organized it, it just sort of happened. But it started at nine, just when it was getting dark and no one was on the beach, and went until about two in the morning. Which was okay, because it was fun and school doesn’t start until nine-fifteen.
The girls had their bags from the mall covering Lucie's floor. Margaret was still upset about seeing Matt at the mall with Cassidy.
Lucie sighed and sat on the bed, "You’ve been upset since lunch. Don’t say you're fine, you're obviously not. What's wrong?" she finished.
Margaret looked at her, "I saw Matt eating at the mall today. With Cassidy." She made a 'yuck' face.
"Aw, well that sucks. At least you're finally realizing my brother's a loser! Screw him and Cassidy! Lets have fun tonight! Hey! Why don’t you hang out with that kid Jacob? Matt hates him." She smiled a mischievous smile. Margaret laughed, feeling better.
"Okay. What are we going to wear?" Margaret asked.
"Hm, I picked last year, so you pick this year. Bathing suits? Or no?" Lucie asked. Margaret thought for a minute. "I think we should do bathing suits," she decided finally. Lucie nodded and walked over to her bags. She pulled out the hot pink and white striped bikini she bought from Hollister today, and then went over to Margaret bags, digging through her Hollister bags. Finally, she pulled out Margaret navy blue one. She tossed it to her and she went into her bathroom and put it on.
