Monday morning, Bethany sat up and yawned. She looked around her room, grabbed her pink plush robe, and went to her bathroom. She took a quick shower, and then went back to her room. She hadn’t seen Matt or Margaret the rest of the weekend, and Matt hadn’t responded to any of her texts. She wasn’t worried though; convinced things had gone horribly for them in the car.

When Bethany's hair was blown-out straight, she braided a front piece and clipped it to the side of her hair. She threw on some boot-cut jeans, and a turquoise tank top and a loose off-the-shoulder white Hollister top. She wore turquoise sandals, and had on girlie make-up. She walked downstairs, and out the door, not even bothering to say good-bye to her family.

She pulled into the school parking lot and parked in her usual spot. She got out, and walked over to the waiting Cassidy.

"Hey!" Bethany said brightly.

"Hi," Cassidy said, smiling a little. Bethany was about to strike up conversation, but she noticed Matt walking towards her, staring right at her. She smiled, when he smiled. "There you are," he said. Oh the joys of mornings, Bethany thought gleefully. She was waving and opening her mouth to say something, when she heard someone speak behind her.

"Hey!" a girl said, a little timidly, in the way a girl would say it to a guy she really liked. But it wasn’t just a girl; it was Margaret. Bethany turned completely around, and glared at Margaret. She was wearing a navy Hollister dress; it had razorback spaghetti straps, the waist cinched, and at the bottom was floral eyelet lace. She had on bright pink peep-toe wedges that were four inches high. Her lacy pink bra-straps were showing. W-, Bethany thought, sneering at Margaret. Matt hadn’t been looking at Bethany; he'd been looking at Margaret. Matt didn't even glance at Bethany when he passed, and Margaret didn't look either.

The hugged, kissed quickly, and then locked hands, walking over to all of their other friends. Bethany turned around, arms crossed, face hard.

Margaret liked the way her and Matt's hands fit together; it felt right. This was their first 'public outing'. She hadn’t even told Izzy and Lucie. No one knew but them that they were officially together. Just knowing that, Margaret wanted to jump up and down and scream in happiness. Lucie was staring, open-mouthed, and Izzy was watching with her eyebrows raised. Levi and Brandon laughed, and Molly, Aubrey, and Hillary smiled and began whispering. They walked up to everyone, it was silent for half a second, before everyone broke loose.

"Yeah! Way to go Matt!" the guys broke out in their football yelling voice, and high-fiving him.

"What the h-!" Lucie exclaimed. She and Izzy grabbed Margaret's left arm and hand and yanked her away for Matt.

"Hey!" Margaret protested. The pulled her a few feet away.

"UM. Excuse us, but when did this happen!" Izzy asked. Lucie rolled on her tippie-toes, bouncing slightly.

Margaret hesitated. "Friday night…" she said, smiling innocently.

"WHAT!" Izzy yelled.

"Dude! What the h! We're your bestest best friends in the whole wide world and you don’t tell us until after TWO DAYS!" she looked unbelievable.

"I wanted it to be a surprise…!" Margaret defended.

"Um, honey! It's not supposed to be a surprise for us!" Izzy told her.

"I know… but aren’t you like, ecstatic!" Margaret smiled, clapping her hands. Izzy and Lucie exchanged a serious look, before turning back to Margaret and erupting in smiles and giggles.
