The manor had an eerie quietness to it. It seemed like nothing was going on in fact, it seemed like no one lived in this manor anymore. Darkness seemed to surround it at all hours of the day, shadows seemed to creep out of all corners. But this manor was still very much inhabited, it was inhabited by the royal vampire family and there was a lot going on, a whole lot more than the lycanthropes bargained for was waiting to be unleashed. The king spent sleepless days planning strategies, he wanted his daughter, the whole family wanted Viola back, and this was the only way to get her. Lycanthropes were savages, this was what they wanted.
"Are you certain this is the only way Father?" Enrique asked, standing at his father's side.
King Caiden was seated in his study, maps drawn out in front of him on his brown, wooden table. He sat, back arched, peering into them. Places were highlighted, circled, marked. The lycanthropes had a wide base. They had checked the place Carter claimed Viola was but it was vacated. So, where was Viola now? Where was the King of lycanthropes now? If he would not show himself, then they would start with the lower level lycanthropes. Like a chess game, the pawns would have to go first, to reveal their king.
"Father..." Enrique started. King Caiden's head snapped up from what he was currently focusing on. His green eyes piercing into Enrique's blue ones. His jaw was clenched, nostrils flared, eyes wild.
"Stop questioning your king!" He yelled and Enrique winced. His father had slowly turned into this these last few days. Enrique feared he might soon be driven totally mad with sadness and anger.
"The lycanthropes want war and that is what we shall give them! They took my daughter, and for that, they all deserve death! I will not stop until every last one of them is dead!" He roared.
"What about our kind?!" Enrique yelled back, refusing to break eye contact with his father "Thousands will die! I miss Viola too father but there has to be another way!"
"There is no other way! Don't you see that?!" He spat back.
"You refuse to find another." Enrique said, voice low and cold.
"Get out." His father replied, voice dangerously low now too.
"Father..."
"I said, get out!!" King Caiden roared once more.
Enrique clenched his jaws and bit his lips shut to avoid saying anything else and stormed out, anger radiating immensely from him. Anyone who could see him could agree on one thing, he was against this war. But did that mean he wouldn't go to all measures to rescue his sister? He loved her a lot, he really did. He just didn't want to do anything everyone would regret dearly. He was more logical then rash, in all situations- or at least, that was the front he put up.
King Caiden stayed in his study alone, the darkness not bothering him as his eyes stayed sharp nonetheless. He was coming up with a war strategy, one that he was sure would favor him in the end. He spent what must have been hours alone there before a loud knock distracted him momentarily.
"Enter." He said distractedly not even bothering to look up. Footsteps could be heard for a few seconds before they came to a halt, the wooden table separating the owner from the King.
"Your Majesty." A voice greeted. King Caiden finally looked back up to see the person who had brought a little hope to his family.
Carter.
