*Gerard's P.O.V.*
I got a random call when I was walking to my car after class. At first, I wasn't going to answer it but I was in a good mood so I just decided to.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Gerard Way?"
"Yes?"
"Hi, you put in an application for Coffee N' More?"
"Yes, yes I did."
"We'd like you to come in for an interview tomorrow afternoon at 3pm. Are you available?"
Tomorrow at 3? But I was going to be with Frank that time tomorrow. I had it all planned out and- "Yeah, I can make it."
"Great! See you tomorrow."
"You too! Thank you!"
I got in my car and drove to mom's.
I walked through the front door.
"I have great news!" I announced, I knew everyone was home.
"Hello to you too, Gee." Mikey said.
"I've got an interview tomorrow at 3 at the coffee shop!"
"Gerard, that's great!"
"Yes! I'm so close to bringing Frank home with me and-" I looked around. "Where is Frank?"
"He's upstairs. He's not feeling well."
I rushed up the stairs, seeing the door was cracked.
"Frankie?" I said opening the door a little more.
"Hey, Gerard."
"You feeling okay?"
He shook his head.
"Do you ache?"
"A little."
"Did mom give you any medicine?"
"She said she has nothing for me to take."
"I'll go get you some. I'll come by before my interview tomorrow."
"Good job on that, by the way."
"It doesn't mean anything. Just determines if I get the job or not. But nothing matters to me if you're not feeling well."
"Don't worry about me, I'm okay."
"Frankie, no- I need to worry about you. You're my best friend. You're my favorite thing, baby. I need to keep you safe."
"No-" He voice came out a little broken before he started a coughing fit.
When it got to the point when he was gasping for air, I started to worry and borderline panic.
"Frank- Frankie-"
He kept couching to where it sounded like he was choking.
"Mom! Get some water quick!" I yelled. "Hold on, Frank. I've got you."
He was sweating, his eyes were watering, his face was turning blue, he didn't stay still.
"Mom!" I screamed.
"Coming, I'm coming." She came in the room. "Tilt his head back." I did and she poured some water in his mouth. I covered his mouth. "Lean him forward so he doesn't choke. Now, Frank, swallow the water slowly, do you understand?"
He swallowed the water then gasped for air, leaning against me when his couching fit was finally over. His breathing was heavy, his hair stuck to his forehead, and he let out tiny whimpers.
"Shh, Frankie, you're okay. I've got you."
He was weak. He could hardly move on his own.
My poor little Frankie.
"Gerard, why don't you lay him down and let him rest." She patted my shoulder then left the room.
I held Frank in my arms like a baby. His eyes were slowly closing. I wanted to hold him as he slept just so I knew he was okay.
I looked back down at Frank. His eyes were closed, his breathing slowed, he looked like a baby.
I kissed his forehead and laid him down on the bed and under the blanket.
I couldn't leave him. There was always something about Frank -even when I first met him- that drew me to always be next to him. I constantly craved contact with him. He keeps all those bad habits and thoughts I've had away from me when I'm with him.
He'll say I saved him, but really he was keeping my head above the water and he doesn't even realize it.
