E M I L I A -

"Is the food ready?" Tom asks as soon as we pull away. I nod into his chest, not wanting to move.

Saying I've missed him is an understatement; it was depressingly pathetic how useless I was without him. I felt like I didn't have a purpose, not with him gone, and if I acted the way I did when he was in a coma, I can't imagine how'd I act if he were gone. The idea is unfathomable; I'd rather him without me and happy then dead and gone from the world.

"Babe?" He says quietly, his mouth skimming my shoulder, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah it's ready. I'll set the table; go sit and relax, Tom."

"You cooked, so I'll set the table." Tom says before trying to pull away, but I grab the bottom of his shirt into my fist and keep him firmly planted against me.

"Don't leave yet; hold me please." I whisper quietly.

I hear him open his mouth, "What happened?"

"Nothing, just hold me, please."

"Emilia."

"Hold me."

And finally he obliges, his arms wrapping around me and enveloping me in his hold, his strong, familiar, safe hold. I bury my nose into his chest; he smells like the male soap I've been buying him, which makes me smile a bit. I want to refamiliarize myself with him, because for a moment I'd almost lost him.

"I don't know where this moment of weakness and vulnerability has come from but I'm glad that we've finally reached this stage." He says before slowly picking me up, grunting in the process.

Wrapping my legs around his torso, I lay my head into his neck, kissing it quickly, "And what stage is this?"

"The stage where you can be open about your vulnerability and depend on me to fix whatever's wrong." He says quietly, running his hands up and down my back, making me feel serene and tranquil.

"What's wrong?" He asks cautiously.

"I almost lost you." I breathe out.

"I'm not going anywhere, Em - not anytime soon, okay?" He assures me, tightening his grip around me.

"I sure hope so; I can't and won't do this without you." I whisper, causing him to freeze.

"And I'll make sure you won't ever have to." He promises, and my body sags in relief.

"I believe you."

"Good. Now, do you want to sleep or watch a movie or eat?" Tom asks, and I look up at him.

"Are you still tired?"

"I wouldn't mind sleeping some more." Tom almost reluctantly admits, and I grin.

"Okay, we can watch a movie or try to watch a movie and sleep."

"That works for me. Come on." Tom says before walking back into the living room.

"You shouldn't have carried me; you're still recuperating, and I don't want you to strain yourself." I groan.

"Don't do that. I'm recuperating by taking care of you, okay babe? Relax." Tom demands before giving me the 'don't argue with me' look.
