Looking quickly in the mirror, I try to practice the fake smile I'm going to give when I open the door for Kevin and his family.

I forgot that I'd even invited them to have dinner with Emilia and me, and to make matters worse, I forgot to tell her. If I'd told her, we wouldn't be so caught off guard and I wouldn't be so irritated by the interruption of our time together.

The shower with Emilia was like the beginning of our relationship, tense and awkward, but the wanting was always there until Emilia slowly opened up to me and I, of course, waited patiently for her and basked in her attention when she finally gave it up to me.

Her labored panting and quiet moans filled me with pride and awe. She's so beautiful when she's not trying. The small smile she unknowingly gives when in the midst of an organism entices me to bite her lip and the groan she gives after, my God, it leaves me ready to take her, wherever we are.

But she isn't ready, I know that. Even after the shower, if she's still hesitant in the slightest, she's not ready, and I'm okay with that because I can't stand the idea of being something she has the slightest feelings of regret for.

"Where are we, Dad?" The unmistakable voice of Savannah says through the door I've yet to open.

"Just wait Savannah," Rose says before saying to Kevin, "Are you sure this is the right day?"

"Of course I'm sure. You really think I'd show up to Alpha Emilia and Tom's house on the wrong day?" Kevin says and I grin at his words.

Walking forward, I open the door and force myself to look at them with shock.

"I said yesterday, Kevin, but I guess you can come in now; we weren't expecting you today, though."

Rose glares at her mate while Kevin just pales and Savannah plays with her dress, oblivious to everything.

"I could've sworn you said today. I apologize for us --" Kevin begins before I start grinning.

"I'm just messing with you." I say, chuckling. "Please, come in."

Kevin is dressed in a button-down, blue shirt with cargo pants and sneakers while Rose wears a red dress that shows off her swollen belly paired with flats. Little Savannah matches her mommy in a sweet red dress with flowers and white sandals while their three boys wear matching navy blue shirts and shorts.

"You guys look great." I compliment, before ushering them to the living room where they each take their seats.

"Thank heavens we do; I didn't spend forever making sure they looked presentable for no reason." Rose says exasperatedly while poking Kevin, who grins down at her.

"This is why we're mated - what would I do without your fashion sense?" Kevin says, rubbing her belly.

"What's the gender?" I ask, loving their interactions.

"It's a boy." Kevin says in a duh tone.

"It's definitely a girl." Rose says firmly.

"Well, what is it?" I ask amusingly.

"Kevin swears up and down that we're having another boy and although I wouldn't mind another boy, I'm certain it's a girl. Plus, I have three boys and only one girl, so this last baby has to be a girl." Rose says before rubbing her belly and smiling at her children.
