E M I L I A -

He's never walked away from me like that before. He's never talked to me like that before either.

Shaking my head, I stand up and run after him. I'm tired of making mistakes. Opening our bedroom door, I run down the stairs before spotting him in the kitchen.

"Tom." I cry out. I don't know if he hears the desperation in my voice, but he turns around just the same.

He doesn't say anything; he just stares at me, emotionlessly. My wolf whimpers at his silence, taking it as a dismissal.

"It won't happen ever again." I find myself saying. "I'm used to barking out orders, but I'm not used to having to be careful and seeing who I bark those orders out too. It won't happen again."

"That's what you said last time." He grunts, his tone on the bridge of mocking.

"I mean it every time I say it."

"Meaning something and actually doing it are two different things. Do you know the difference?" He advances.

"Yes, I know the fucking difference." I growl through gritted teeth.

"So don't stand there and say 'I mean it every time I say it' like that makes an actual difference when you know it doesn't!" Tom yells. I straighten my back at his words, a sudden change falling over me.

"I make one slip up - one. I was focused on a pack member, a tracker who risks his life on a daily basis to find information to end this damn rebellion that's growing by the week. Literally. Are you even mad that I commanded you to do something when I was busy - " I spit out angrily, " - or are you mad at the fact that I cleaned another man's wounds?"

"Both." Tom says simply, his calmness pissing me off even further.

"Well, get over it. I'm an Alpha, I have to take care of my pack members: me commanding you to do something wasn't to belittle you. I was attending to a pack member who was decorated in severe wounds that needed immediate care. I would send him to the infirmary but no one can know he's here! I made you Alpha, and this is how you act? You get jealous and embarrassed when I command you to do something?"

"What else am I supposed to be Emilia?" Tom yells, his eyes wide and flashing, his breathing erratic and his hands balled into fists. "Do you honestly expect me to step aside and say, 'My mate's gonna take care of a man's wounds while he's naked, but oh, I shouldn't get mad or be jealous because you know she's an Alpha and that's her job' - is that how you expect me to think and act? Well that's not how I act and I won't ever act that way either."

"He had on boxers, so he was not technically naked." I say, rolling my eyes, "And could you dress his wounds? Disinfect them and then stitch them together?"

"No." Tom says begrudgingly.

"Then am I really at fault here? You're just upset that I cleaned a man's wounds when he was only in his boxers and your feelings are hurt because I raised my voice at you when you weren't doing what needed to be done. Get over it." I growl harshly.

Nodding his head at my words, Tom swiftly turns around and makes his way towards the door.

"And that's another thing: you start these arguments and then you walk away; you're always the one to leave. What's the point in starting an argument if you're always gonna back out of it?" I growl after him. I feel tears beginning to fill my eyes, but I wipe them away furiously.
