I Remember You

Memories - Chapter 6

YONGHWA POV

Lianee calmed down after the doctor injected the valium in her arm. She was mumbling incoherently. I only hear some words.

"...Sunset Beach... " she said drowsily. I wipe the tears from her cheeks. She sighed and turn to me and I smiled. Shes still the same in some way. I look at her face and kissed her cheek. I wondered what happened. Why didnt she remember me? I cant help but frown when I look back to what happened earlier.

" did you think something happened that Jae didnt tell me? " her mom asked and I look at her.  " has she been like this, since she arrive here?"

I nod my head and she gasp.

" when I went to the airport she said shes waiting for her boyfriend and I thought you'll be coming to the house." She whispered. Her eyes turned cloudy at some emotion that shes trying to hide.

" its ok Mrs. Kim. I... I didnt tell you because I thought she was just mad at me. I didnt go to your house because Shin has fever. I told her that when we met at school but she just brush me off." I stammered then I frowned again.

She reach in her pocket for her cellphone and dialled a number. I can hear the faint sound of phone ringing then a deep voice answered.

" hello..."

" Jae. Its me." I look at her and saw her hand holding the phone tight.

" Wendy.." Jae inhaled deeply as he heard his wife's voice on the other line. The sound of her voice still make his heart beat faster. His brows furrow as he look at the clock on the wall. Its almost midnight. " why are you calling, is everything ok?" He ask her.

" did something happen to Lianee last week? " Wendy ask her voice rushing out and she sounded jittery.

Jae make her nervous. She cant shake the feeling. But she has to talk to him. She can still remember how he raised his hand and slapped her while they were arguing. Her heartbeat accellerated and she closed her eyes to calm her nerves. That was the first and only time Jae hurt her but she cant get it out of her mind.

" huh? Why ? What happened?" Jae asked with concern in his voice. He can hear her breathing deeply and he sigh.  " baby calm down. Im...Im sorry ok. Im so far from you. You have to calm down and tell me what happened. "

Wendy sighed loudly. There he is again calling her baby, as if they were still together. As if he didnt hurt her. Her eyes watered at some remembered memory and she sniffed. Yonghwa gave her some tissue and she smiled gratefully at him.

" Im ok. Sorry 'bout that. " She breathed on the phone. " Lianee seem to be out of sorts. She doesnt remember Yonghwa. And today she ...she fainted after I told her what happened on her last day here. "

" hmm.." Jae frowned. Lianee was ok when he drove to the airport two weeks ago. Hongki was there with them.

" well, she fainted in gym. Hongki brought her to the hospital. Its a good thing that she only has a gash on her forehead."

" she...she was hospitalized? Why didnt you tell me?" Wendy cant help raising her voice. Something happened to her. " and who is that Hongki guy?"

" He is Lianee's gym buddy. They were close and he always assist her during workout. He was there when she fainted. " he took a deep breath.

" where were you? Why arent you with her at that time? " She asked him incredously.

" I was on an out of town meeting. But the doctor said shes ok. Her hand was slightly sprained but thats it." His voice trailed as he said the last word. He knew what Wendy is thinking right now. Shes thinking he didnt take care of Lianee just as he promised he would.

" its ok Jae. " he was surprised at her tone. She didnt blame him!

" I...its midnight. I'll just talk to her when she wakes up. The doctor gave her something to calm her down. " He can hear her talking to someone. It must be Yonghwa, Lianee's boyfriend.

" goodbye Jae. " Then he heard a beep signalling the call has ended.

Jae Kim put the cellphone down on the table and put his face in his hands. He really missed his family. He didnt tell her though. He felt so miserable after he hurt Wendy and he knew that she suffered from what he did her.

He hope everythings ok with his daughter and his wife. His ex-wife he corrected himself. Wendy divorced him two weeks after the incident. He look at the small refrigerator. That bottle of vodka inside seemed to be a good idea right now.
