I Remember You

Always - Chapter 13

Lianee stayed in the hospital for a month. She would have episodes of severe headaches every now and then. Her mom worked from her room since shes a virtual shopper. Her dad went back to his place because of work but he called them everynight.

Lianee kept her appointment with the psychiatrist. She was hesitant at first but then she managed to tell the doctor her fears and guilt feelings.

Yonghwa stayed with her all through out and she allowed herself to be closer to him. But aside from the flash of memory that one time, it didnt happen again. She was a bit sad at this and Yonghwa noticed. Lianee noticed that something is bothering him and hes not as talkative as he was.

" do you want to go to the hospital park?" He asked on her last night there.

Lianee agreed and they went out holding hands. She was wearing her pjays. The night was cool and stars adorn the sky as Yonghwa led her to a bench near the fountain.

" how do you feel?" Yonghwa ask her.

" Im ok." She answered with a smile. " thank you for being patient with me Yong."

He smiled at her. Then he sat beside her and held both of her hands. " baby, I have to tell you something. "

" what is it?" Lianee ask as she made a sweeping glance at him.

" Im going to the university. " he said and Lianee's heart sank in her chest. He is leaving her. She tried to keep the smile on her face.

" thats good." She answered. Yonghwa look at her with a frown.

" I dont want to leave. "

" you have to ok? " lianee told him as she squeeze his hands. "I have to finish my senior year. Im gonna be fine. When are you leaving?"

" Tomorrow. Mom wants me to settle in before the school yee starts." Lianee suck in her breath but she let it out quickly. She wants to be with him more. She has grown closer to him but she knows he has to go.

" ok." She said in a small voice. She look at the stars to keep herself from crying.

" I'll miss you Lianee." He said as he hug her. Lianee let herself lean on his chest as she inhaled his scent. She cant help the tears that fall and wipe them right away. Shes glad he didnt notice. It would be hard for him if he sees her like this.

" take care of yourself. Call me if you wanted to talk to me, anytime ok? " he said and she nod her head.

They went back to her room and Yonghwa stayed with her telling her stories about his new school. Lianee smiled and nod at him till she felt sleepy. Yonghwa tucked her in, kissed her forehead and said goodnight.

They exchanged emails and skyped all through summer. Lianee missed him but Yonghwa made sure to call her everynight.

When school starts again, Lianee continue her senior year. She s a bit thankful that all the bullies have graduated. She doesnt have news about Micah and her group and she concentrated on her studies. Yonghwa promised to be there when she graduates.

Their skype session became less and less. Yonghwa's call dwindled to once a week and most of the time they dont talk much. She felt him slipping away from her. Until one day just three months before graduation it stopped altogether. On their last coversation, Yonghwa told her that he is getting busy with homework and his part time job at a music store. He again promised to be there on her graduation.

Lianees mom and dad has been working out their differences. Her dad moved back to their town and is now renting near their old house. Every weekend they would have a family night out. Lianee couldnt be more happy than she is now. She also reconciled with Hongki. They talked over the phone. He is planning on becoming an entertainer and will be going to Korea to train. Theyre friends now and she didnt hold a grudge anymore.

She woke up feeling excited. She took a bath and ate her breakfast slowly. Her dad slept at their house last night and her mom was beaming at them as they ate.

" honey." She called and Lianee look up. Her mom seem to be a bit anxious and she cant help but frown.

" what is it?" She asked her.

Her dad held her moms hand and kissed it. Then he look at her and made an announcement.
" Lianee were getting married."

Her mouth opened in surprise. Then she jumped and embrace them both.

" oh! Im so happy!" She screamed and hug them tight. " youre gonna live here again. Were gonna be a family again!"

Her mom was crying softly at her words and she kiss her cheek. " oh honey. Its good that youre not angry at me for separating you and your dad. Thank you hon."

" mom its ok. I love you both. Whatever it is that dad did before, I know he learned from it. " she look at her dad and winked. " Im so happy for you. I hope youve forgiven him."

Wendy look at her in surprise. " you knew?" Then she exchanged a look with Jae but he just shrugged.

" uhm..well I overheard aunt Lyre when I stayed with them for week. She was telling uncle Bruce about you and how dad went to get himself fixed. I hope youre both ok now." Lianee said as she takes each of their hand in hers.

Her dad put his arms on her moms shoulders as he sighed. " yeah. Im sorry about everything babygirl. I know its been a long time coming and Im really thankful that Wendy gave me another chance. "

They laugh the awkwardness away and Lianee asked about the details of the wedding. They will be wed on Sunday since shes graduating today and its Friday. After graduation they will eat out and buy her a dress for the wedding.

At 3:00 in the afternoon. Their march started. Lianee cant stop herself from looking back. Yonghwa promised to be there but she cant spot him from the people at the back. She saw her mom, dad, aunt Lyre and uncle Bruce but no sign of Yonghwa. She went up the stage to get her diploma and she cant help but feel sad that Yonghwa wasnt there.

They ate at a fancy restaurant after buying a cream dress. All the excitement of the morning vanished. She pretended to eat but she doesnt have an appetite.

" hey babygirl." Her dad called her. " are you ok?"

" yeah I guess Im just excited for Sunday, I cant eat." She tried to make her voice lively and her dad smiled. He believed her.

They were quiet on the way home. Lianee fell asleep in the car and when she woke up they already parked but her parents are not with her. Instead the car door was opened in the middle of a huge garden.

Its like shes in the middle of a maze. She cant see whats in fromt of her but she walk anyway feeling anxious. She wants to find her parents.

There are voices ahead of her and she walk hastily towards it. She can hear her moms laugh and she calmed down. Maybe they are waiting for her to wake up.

Theres a curtain or cloth in front of her and she can tell that theres a party going in. As she took a step forward, the curtain parted and in front of her. The sound died down and suddenly she can hear someone played a guitar. She was surprised to see her cousins waving at her at the side. Her mom and dad are sitting with two people that seemed vaguely familiar and they were all smiling at her.

They were all looking at someone in the front and her gaze followed them.
