chapter sixteen

As I left the hospital, Alesa said goodbye to me, and asked me to watch Manson for her while she stayed with Adam.
"Ill try," I said, "But Manson can be a handful."
Alesa kissed me on the cheek.
"You'll be fine. Ill call you if anything changes," she said.
I nodded, and followed Nick back into the car. As I buckled in, Nick pulled out his phone and started to text some one. I was too far away to see the names. I couldn't ask him who he was texting either, that would make me rude, and I didn't want to be. So I just sat back, watching his thumbs go back and forth. After a few minutes, he finally put down his phone.
"Alright, ready to go?" he asked me.
I nodded.
*people really need to invent a teleportation device. Bc car rides are BORING*
Nick's car pulled up into an office building. I looked up at the sky, as the building rose up into what looked like endlessness space. Clouds covored the sun, as it started to rain. Nick looked at me, confused.
"Oh come on," he said, "Stop being so dramatic, it's just the office building."
I giggled. We walked up the stone path into the large building.
*note, I may be completely wrong, but idk if sky office is big or small.*
As I walked up the stairs, despite the fact I still had my crutches, I was so curious about what was open there, nothing could stop me from seeing it. I went as fast as humanly possible, and finally got to the top. There, everyone from sky offices (including Aphmau) yelled "surprise!" Right into my face. I stumbled backward, bumping into Nick.
"Oops," I said.
Everyone laughed. Jin held out ice cream cake.
"I didn't know if you liked ice cream," Jin said. "But we also got it because Adam is lactose intolerant, so he couldn't eat all the cake before we gave it to you. It's a well over due welcome cake. Sorry Adam or Alesa wasn't hear to celebrate with us," he trailed off.
"It's ok," I said almost crying with happiness for the party. "I'm just glad you all are here to celebrate with me." I finally turned around to Nick, "Was that who you were texting?" I asked.
"Yea, I wanted to, you know, bring up your spirits," he said blushing.
I came over to hug him.
"Thank you," I said softly.
Then I felt arms and hands wrap around me for one big hug.
"Quit it!" I said half laughing. "Your squishing me."
