It was now June. Annabeth and I were done with shopping and waiting until the day. It was already the tenth. We were bringing Annabeth in the next day.
"Sweetie, you'll be OK." I was persuading her. She was scared about going into the hosipital.
"I will be with you the whole time." I promised. She was twisting the ring on her finger and looking at me nervously.
"I know. I'm just overreacting." She sighed. I kissed her cheek and she fell asleep on the couch.
I covered her with a blanket and went into the kitchen. I made myself a ham and mustsrd sandwich and went out to install the car seats.
Our house was completely babyproof by now. I had put foam on all the sharp corners and the baby gates were all set up. We had the high chairs and cribs all set up in the nursery the baby bath in the guest tub. We were set.
After setting the car seats I decided to pack our baby bag. I packed two pairs of clothes for each baby. I also had a bottle for each. I packed a blue and pink blanket and car seat cover.
By the time the next day arrived, we were set and we got to the hosipital on time.
The nurses got Annabeth to her room and changed her into her robe. They helped her into bed and left to get her breakfast.
"How are you?" I asked her, getting a chair to sit in from the wall.
"Great. I'm going to take a nap." Annabeth dozed off and I did too. Neither of us had gotten much sleep over the last few days.
I woke to hear Annabeth screaming my name. I shot out of my chair and over to her side in seconds. She was crying and terrified. Her face was strained.
"My water broke. Get the nurse. Hurry." She shouted, clutching her sromach. I rushed out, panicked. I searched for a nurse and yelled to the first person I saw in scrubs.
"Hey, my wife's water broke. Help." I screamed and rushed back to my wife's room. The nurse and three others quickly followed.
They quickly secured her to the bed and rushed it out of the room. Annabeth was screaming in apin. The last I saw of her before a doctor saw me was her writting on the bed while they tried to hold her still. My heart throbbed at the thought that I did this to her. I put her in this pain.
I went back to her room and called all my friends. It was exactly midnight. The babies had did as we asked, tey waited until June 12th.
My friends all arrived soon. Hazel and Piper were both carrying screaming kids.
"She just went in. Oh god." I was hyperventilating.
"Percy, sit down. Leo, will get you some food. And coffee." Piper said, shooing Leo. Hazel and Piper both handed their husbands the kids and rushed to my side.
After about a half an hour of waiting the doctor came in. She was smiling from ear to ear, and masking her tiredness. She led us all to Annabeth's room and opened the door. We all entered excitedly.
My heart was beating in my throat, I was about to see my kids for the frst time. Would they cry at the sight of me? Would they look more like me than Annabeth? I had so many questions running through my mind. They disapeared when I saw Annabeth lying on the bed, her eyes glazed, holding a pink and blue blanket. They both had little bumps in them.
I immediately ran to her side and hugged her gently so as to not hurt the babies. The babies were everything I could have asked for and more.
The little girl, Silena Phoebe Jackson was beautiful. She had wispy blonde hair and sea green eyes. Her face was pudgy and adorable as she looked up at me. She was tiny in her mothers arms. Charlie Lucas Jackson also had wispy blonde hair. He had sea green eyes too. His face was completely identical to his twin sister's.
"They are amazing." I whispered so I didn't scare them. Silena giggled and I felt tears oming on.
"Want to hold them while I sleep?" Annabeth asked, sounding exhausted.
"Sure sweetie. Sleep tight." I gently took the twins and cuddled them to my chest. I realized in that moment just how important family was. I was never going to let anything happen to my family. I would always be there for them.
I turned to my best ffriends. They were all smiling happily.
I let Calypso and Reyna hold the babies while they were sleeping.
"Wow. We can take them home tonight." I sighed, sitting in a chair. Jason sat next to me.
"I know what you mean. I was so happy when we were able to take Juliet home. You just have to be prepared. She cried all night. Still does." Jason sounded tired.
"We're prepared man. Thanks though." I said, clapping him on the back. Calypso and Reyna gave me the twins after they couldn't calm them down. I held them whhile they cried.
"It's OK. Shhh guys." I soothed them. They stopped crying soon and went back to bed. I smiled.
"Wow. You're a natural dad." Hazel said. Frank looked ashamed.
"The first time I let Frank hold him at home he was terrified. He almost dropped him." Hazel laughed, her laugh quickly turned into a yawn though. She sat down and gave the child n her arms to Frank. He took the boy gingerly.
"Don't drop him Zhang." Leo teased. He, Calypso, and Reyna were the only people in the room who were on a normal sleeping schedule. I was jelous.
Frank glared at him and started rocking his baby.
Just then Annabeth woke up. She groaned and sat up. I tried to get up but Jason pushed me gently down again and went to help Annabeth. He sat her up slowly so she didn't hurt herself.
"You look so good with our babies. I wish I had a camera." Annabeth said to me. I smiled.
"I have it." Piper took her phone out and snapped a picture before I could even pose. She laughed at the final thing.
A nurse came in and told us all to leave while she helped Annabeth change and get ready to go home. We did so obediantly.
I stood in the hallway and when Annabeth came out a nurse was pushing her in a whell chair. Annabeth did not look happy.
We walked out and I got excited. We were taking our babies home for the first time.
