Jess' POV:
I was drifting back to sleep, until Luke came in the door, looking nervous, but then smiled warmly at me. "You alright?" He asked me and I nodded, nervous, waiting for the news he clearly had for me.
"Yeah, what's wrong, Luke?" I replied.
"There's some people here to see you." I didn't have a clue who could have been here to see me, then through the door, bursts Zayn, and I felt my heart sink into the bottom of my chest.
"Oh Jess, you're safe!" He said, hugging me, a little too tight, so I knew that he was in charge again. "I was so worried about you." I looked at Luke, terror in my eyes, internally screaming for somebody to notice. "When I find out who did this to you!" He chuckled into my ear so only I could hear it. He sat at the corner of my bed, and held my hand regardless of how much I protested by pulling it away.
"Hi, Cathryn. I'm just here to take a statement off you." The police man said. "Do you know who did this to you?" I looked up at Zayn, tears in my eyes, and shook my head. "Are you sure?" He said, looking through my false retort.
"Are you saying she's a liar?" Zayn said aggressively.
"Of course not. I just want to make sure she doesn't know anything that could help us catch the person that did this to her. Don't you want that for her, sir?"
"Of course I do." Zayn lied, smiling falsely.
"Well, Cathryn, if you need anything, just call me on this number." He gave me a card, with his name on it. I nodded, and he left the room.
"You can go now." Zayn nodded at Luke.
"I'll go get you a drink Jess." Luke said.
"It's fine," Zayn insisted getting up. "I can get my girlfriend a drink." He left the room, and I seized the opportunity.
"Luke, you need to help me. I need to get out of here." I insisted, starting to cry.
"Wait, what's happening Cathryn? Did he do this to you?" He asked, and I began to cry as I nodded. "Right, we're getting out of here now."
Zayn's POV:
I went to get a drink with an arrogant smirk on my face, and stood at the machine smiling. After buying it, I walked back into the room. As I walked in, I allowed the cup to slip through my fingers, because she had gone. In a fit of anger, I threw my hands under the chair nearest to me and launched it into the corner of the room.
Cathryn's POV:
I sat in the front seat of Luke's car, after sneaking out of the back exit. He drove us home so quickly that I'm surprised he wasn't pulled over. "Are you okay?" He asked, sympathetically as he pulled up.
"Yeah. I just wanna get as far away from this place as possible." I sighed.
"Wait, Cathryn, what do you mean?"
"Luke, I can't stay here... We have to leave, or at least I do. I need to go to another country. I have enough money to get me there, you just need to get me to the airport."
"Then I'm coming with you. I have friends in LA. We can go there. You need me to protect you." I flinched under his touch and he sighed. "Sorry." I awkwardly smiled apologetically.
We went into the house and he packed his things, grabbed his secret stash of money and wrote a note. I read it afterwards. He wrote "Mum and Dad, I don't really know how to say this... Jess is in danger. You'll all be safer if I don't tell you why. I can't tell you where we've gone, because I've got to keep her safe. I'm eighteen next month, and I'm old enough to take care of myself. If you can, please put some money in my bank account to keep me going. When I get comfortable and safe, I'll call when I can. I love you all. Stay safe. Luke."
I sighed, "I'm so sorry to put you through this, Luke."
"Don't apologise." He said, grabbing my by the arms, and I winced again, but relaxed much quicker than usual, and relaxed into his chest in a hug, surprising both him and myself.
-The next day-
After finding a cheap flight to LA, we finally got there comfortably. Luke dialed his phone and pressed it to his ear. "Hi Cal...we're at Arrivals...Right, we'll be ready, see you in a minute." He said down the phone and picked up his case.
"Who's coming getting us?" I asked, nervously.
"My friend. I had a group of friends in high school, and they live in a reformed house with a bunch of girls, they went to college with, when college finished, they all just stayed here. They're all pretty cool. We'll be safe there." A car pulled up and Luke waved, hugging the Asian boy that I guess was picking us up, with a girl that had short blond curly hair. "Cal, it's so good to see you. You must be Azaela." She smiled, presumably saying yes. I pulled my hair over my face nervously, trying to look away from the two new people.
"Hi, you must be Jess. Are you feeling okay?" Calum asked me, and I just nodded, shyly. "Okay, lets get going, you must be exhausted." Calum leaned to me to take my bag from me, and I flinched. "Oh, shoot. Sorry, I forgot."
"It's okay." I mumbled embarrassed. We got into the car and I fell asleep, as I had barely slept in 2 days. When we pulled up at a massive house, clearly expensive and very beautiful. It reminded me of the life of luxury that Zayn showed me, but it wasn't sincere.
Luke helped me out of the car, and carried my bag into the house while guiding me in. He, again, ensured I was okay, and smiled at me gently when I said yes. "Guys, we're home." Calum said, walking in the house. "Come say hi." Calum walked ahead into a room. "This way, Cathryn and Luke." We followed him into a room filled with entertainment, like a massive TV, beanbags, pool tables and so on. It looked like they've turned it into a place that people stay in for a long time. "Guys, this is Cathryn, and you know Luke."
"Luke! Nice to see you man." A guy with black hair smiled. Everybody sat in a group and I awkwardly stood in the doorway. A girl with black hair approached me, smiling.
"Hi, I'm Isabella, but call me Issy. I'm Ashton's girl friend. You must be Luke's friend?" She asked.
"Erm, yeah, I am." I replied awkwardly and nervously.
"You don't have to be ashamed you know. We're here to help you. I ran away from my ex-boyfriend, when Alexis found me," She gestured to a blue eyed girl with long blond hair, that smiled warmly at me. "And she brought me here, and I've been here for 3 years." I smiled in reply, not really having any inclination what to say. With a big thud, the door behind me swung open, and a girl with curly brown stomped in, knocking me over.
"Hey, get out of my way." She hissed at me, and Issy picked me up from the floor.
"Not cool, Destiny. This is the new girl that came with Luke." Issy snapped.
"Luke, you're here." She softened slightly. "Whatever," She snapped back into the bitchy persona she originally portrayed. "I'm going up to my room." She slammed the door behind her.
"That's Destiny, Luke's ex-girlfriend." Alexis said. "Well, guys, we better get ready for the party tonight."
"Does anybody fancy taking Cathryn shopping? She didn't bring anything with her." Luke admitted, making me embarrassed and stare at him.
"Yeah, sure. me and Florida will take her, anyone else wanna come?" Issy replied.
"I will," A girl with ginger hair smiled towards me. "I'm Tayler."
"Okay, I'll drive." The other girl, with a really gentle voice and her stunning red hair scraped back into a long glossy pony tail, insisted and we got into the car outside.
