After a competition of knife throwing, which was a tie, we sauntered back to the mansion. That's when I realized Jeff was staring at me.
So I asked, "Why are you staring at m ugly face?"
"You're not ugly." He muttered then looked away.
I looked at him with raised eye brows. H put his head down and put up his blood stained hood.
I giggled silently and I took Jeff's hand and gently pulled him towards the hammock. We sat down it in awkward silence, both our blood-stained hoods up. Then I heard whispering from the window behind us.
"They're so cute together." It sounded like... Ben. Oh, he's so dead. I looked behind me and I saw him whispering to Toby and Eyeless Jack.
I raised my hand, holding a knife by the point, and threw it straight at Ben. I didn't kill him, the knife just cut the tip of his nose. He shrieked like a girl and jumped so high in the air and landed on his arse. I giggled a little, but the Toby and EJ laughed the poop out of themselves. To be honest, Sabrina was right. I do like Jeff, a little. But, does he like me back? From what he said minutes ago, I think he does. I rested my head on his broad shoulder and I noticed he stiffened. I giggled silently and closed my eyes. It was a sweet moment.
Until stupid Slenderpoop barged in.
"Clary, please come to my office." I opened my eyes, raised my head and spotted freaking Slenderdork. He disappeared and I stood up. I met Jeff's eyes, which said "No! Don't leave me! Stupid Slender!" I gave him an apologizing smile and jogged to Slender's office.
The door creaked opened and Slender said in a calm, relaxing voice, "sit, child. I have to tell you something." I sat on a dusty chair and that's when I noticed Trendorman standing at the darkest corner of the room.
"Clary. Since you have blocked your mind, I will have to accurately guess. Do you like Jeffrey?" He asked.
"Yeah. I guess so." I admitted, blushing slightly. "Why? is there a problem liking him?"
"If the Observer finds out the people you love, he will take them away, child. So, stay friends with Jeffrey. Nothing else." He answered. I could sense the sadness in his voice. "Go now, Clary."
I felt my eyes fill up with tears. I didn't want Slender to see, so I quickly walked out of the office and slammed the door behind me. I ran up to my room and I just sat at the corner of my room. I cried m eyes out. It felt like a dad telling Juliet not to love Romeo. I know he is doing the right thing, though.
"Can I come in?" Trenderman whispered. I nodded wiping away my tears. "Don't get mad. He just wants to protect you. I know he never told you this, but, he thinks of you as a daughter. Just like Sally. Clockwork is an individual who doesn't need guidance."
"Yeah. I think of Slender as a dad, now. Sally's parents were different." I said, still sniffling.
"Good thing you understand. Now, Slender forgot to tell you to tell Sabrina, your friend, about the truth. She's Judge Angel's daughter. She gave Sabrina her sword." He took out a sword wrapped in cloth. The sword was heavy and it was pure iron, with a red ruby in the middle.
Trenderman stood up and left the room, leaving me Sabrina's new sword.
