Time is our friend not our enemy. Have you ever sat down and thought about all the little things we as a human race take for granted. Consumed with our own lives, racing against time trying to do so much to a point where we don't even remember why we were racing in the first place. We act like time is out ememy when in actual fact time should be our friend. We don't apprectiate and enjoy living in the moment we are in.
"Paisley, Paisley!" my thoughts got interrupted when my friend Riley decided she needed to shout my name twice from the back of the lecture room.
I turn around to see what she needed and she just smiles at me, "stop overthinking so much, you will loose your mind" she advises me while lanching a pencil in my direction, I dodge the pencil and wave her off.
History is defenitly my favorite subject, but the work for this Semester has been an insane amount and I am barely keeping track. I spend most days stuck in the library studying or researching, but I can't complain as it was my decision to Master in History. Professor Shaw finally let us go and I sprinted for the doors just to be cut of by a "Hey Paisley wait up" from behind me. I knew it was Riley so as soon as I got outside the doors I stepped aside and waited for her.
When she finally got to me she was so out of breath like she just ran a marathon. "uhm why does it sound like you just ran a marathon?" I asked sarcastically. She hits my arm and gives me that are you kidding me look. "It's your fault, next time learn to wait for your friend then I don't have to run like a mad chicken to catch up to you"
I just smile at her and start walking. "So what are your plans for the rest of the day?" she asked me while we walk to the parking lot. "To be honest I want to get home and just do nothing and you?" I asked her reaching my car. "Nothing really I though we could just relax and watch some movies at your place, if you feel like it?" she said and I could hear the hope in her voice.
I really didn't feel like having company but I guess we can do that, it would be nice."uhm sure why not, you can come around in about 2 hours time just make sure you bring some popcorn." I tell her and all of a sudden I get wrapped up in a huge hug. "Riley can't breath... please." I tap her on her back struggling to say the words. "oh sorry, okay see you later then can't wait." she says waving while walking to her car.
I get into my car and put the heat on low just to kill the little chill on my hands. Driving home took me about 10 minutes and I felt relieved when I walked into my cozy apartment and the first thing I saw is my little baby running towards me. "hey baby girl I missed you" I rub her tummy. Rosie is my sweet small little Yorkshire terrier, I got her at the beginning of the year and she stole my heart.
After feeding her I went to put on some comfortable clothes and relaxed on the couch sipping on a cup of coffee.I heard my phone ring on the table so I put my cup down and reach for my phone seeing it's an unknown number yet I still answer.
"hello?" I answer wondering who would be calling me now.
"hello is this Miss. Walker?" the man on the other end asked me.
"yes this is her speaking, what can I help you with?" I ask the man.
"Miss my name is David, I am the neighbor of your grandparents." he said to me and now it's getting weird.
"yes David, what is it that I can help you with?" I said to him. "miss it's your grandparents something happened to them." he said.
There was silence and I felt like my heart just sank right down to my stomach and I could not move.
My world just stopped, time stopped, everything just stopped...
