I couldn't open my eyes or move my body, I was incapable of speaking and that scared me. Was I dead? My thoughts were driving me crazy.
My mind was drifting in and out from memories, memories I can't even remember.
But what are memories really? They are something that happened to us in the past that we decided to keep locked away for future purposes. We don't realize that those past memories that we bury deep deep down at the back of our minds will want to either hurt us or destroy us one day.
To us it's something we treasure, knowing when we think back to that one special moment that one day where everything was perfect all our problems will was away for that split second. But in reality what does that help us?
We realize that nothing really came from those memories, our life's never really got any better. We lost so much during that time and now that we aren't the same person we were back then. But memories keep us alive, without us realizing it.
They keep us going, breathing and enjoying the life we are in. To make new memories are what we strive for as a human race to build good and bad memories that will make us smile one day when we lay on our death bed knowing it's our time to go.
(Flash back)
"No Robert we can't leave Paisley by herself in the shop she's only 7 years old!" I can here my grandmother shouting back at my grandfather.
I was sitting on the couch near the counter minding my own business, but they were shouting at each other that the whole street could hear them.
"So what do you want to do then Caroline?" he shouted back at her.
"We don't jump that's what!" and her voice started to soften.
"But we were planning on jumping today." my grandfather told her.
"Well we will just have to do it another day." she told him.
Everything went quiet for a moment, so I took my chance and walked to the back. I have never been to the back of the shop it was forbidden ground for me. But I walked to the back I didn't care about what I was told I was nosy and wanted to see what was going on.
When I got to the back I saw a door slightly open so I made my way to the door, I could still here them arguing but they were talking to each other in a normal tone of voice. I opened the door slowing and entered the room but I was stopped in my tracks when I saw a book flying across the room.
"Gran is everything okay?" I broken the silence.
They both looked at me while I just stood in the door way. "Paisley you are not allowed in this room, haven't we spoken about this." my gran walks towards me. I nod my head and turned around walking out the room. I could here my grandmothers foot steps behind me but I didn't dare to turn around I just made my way to the front.
"Sorry gran I was just worried, I heard screaming and I just wanted to make sure everything is okay." I told her taking a seat on the couch.
"I understand that pumpkin, you granddad and I just had a misunderstanding that is all but you can not go to the back." she told me while rubbing my back.
"I understand gran." I smiled up at her.
(Present time)
I can't remember that day at all. But I remember that it was the first time I ever saw the store room, and only years after that I got to see it properly without them knowing. I now understand why they kept me from the room and why they never spoke about it around me.
I kept trying to move my arm but it was hard, and I struggled to open my eyes it was like I was trapped inside my own body.
"good morning sir, how are you this morning?" I could hear I female voice but I didn't recognized her voice.
"Morning I am good thank you, any news?" A strong male voice came from my left, but I know that voice it sounded like Elijah.
"Hello can anyone hear me? Elijah please help me!" I was trying to get his attention but nothing happened.
"She is in an induced coma, she picked up a horrible head injury. But according to the doctor she will heal quite fast, we will just have to keep an eye on her for the time being." the women told Elijah.
What does that mean, when will I wake up? Please wake up body!
"Alright thank you, I do appreciate all the help." I heard Elijah's voice again. He had such an amazing voice.
I heard footsteps walking out of the room and then everything was quiet again. I hate the silence, I hate hearing my own thoughts, I hate not being able to wake up and talk to Elijah.
"Everything will be okay Paisley I promise you." I hear him whisper in my ear, I smiled at his words even though he couldn't see my smile.
He moved from me ear and placed a kiss on my forehead, and left.
