Laughter surrounded me, it filled my ears with joy. I know the sound of the laughter, I've heard it before yet I can't place it. Where am I?

Standing up to take in my surroundings the light hits me like a force field, stopping me from going anywhere. So bright I can't see anything around me, just the echo of laughter lingering in my ears. "Hello, is anyone there?" I shout but there is no answer just laughter nothing more.

Then I heard my mother's voice "wake up sweetheart" but I can't see her. "Mom is that you?" I ask her but yet again I get no reply only laughter. Am I dead? What's going on?

"Wake up sweetheart, wake up..." I heard it again.

The laughter stopped and silence filled my ears and my mind, when I opened my eyes again realization hit me. It was all just a dream, oh how I wish I could see my parents again to hear my mother's voice, feel her touch on my rosy cheek, see her beautiful smile even just for a minute.

I laid there wondering where I was, what had happened. Looking around the room the color white was overpowering, and the scent of bleach burnt my nose. I turn over to the over side. And the first person I see is Elijah in the chair next to me half asleep. "Elijah?" I whisper to him. His eyes flutter open and he looks lost.

"You're awake." he smiles at me and gets up.

"Where am I? what happen?" I asked him, I feel so confused and lost.

"At the hospital, you were in an accident last night. A head on collision with another car" he told me while handing me a glass of water.

I take a sip of water and place it on the table next to me. "Is... is the other person okay?" I ask him and the concern ran over me like a train.

"Yes he is perfectly fine, he only has minor scratches." he moves over to sit on the edge of the bed.

"oh my word I need to apologize to him, I can't believe this happen." worry in my voice made him smile.

"Don't worry it has been taken care of, you just need to rest. You has a badly twisted ankle and a slight concussion." he assures me.

"When will I be discharged?" I look up at him with a frown.

"The doctor said maybe in a few days they just need to keep an eye on you for now." he told me.

I don't want to be here any longer I just want to go home, sleep in my own bed and see Rosie. But I guess I don't have much of a choice really.

*3 days later*

Elijah picked me up from the hospital this morning I am so grateful for him, I don't know what I would do if he wasn't around.

I was on my couch watching one of my favorite movies with Rosie fast asleep by my feet. I prefer being here then at the hospital, even though I need to walk around with crutches it's much better at home.

I hear my front door opening but I don't bother to check because it can only be one person. "You should lock your door you know." I hear his husky voice behind me.

"Hello to you to Elijah, please tell me you bought some food I am starving." I smile up at him and to my surprise he actually brought food.

"Indeed I did, and I brought your favorite... Chinese." he assures me and puts the food on the table in front of me.

"Yay your such a life saver, what would I do without you." I tell him and grab my food.

"Clearly nothing." he joke.

After we ate and joked around we watched a movie. After the movie he decided to go home, so I moved to my room because I felt so exhausted and I definitely didn't want to sleep on my couch, definitely not the most comfortable for sleeping.

I got comfortable in my bed with Rosie at my feet, drifting off everything washed away and for the first time since I got here I felt at ease.
