The next morning I had to go to the lawyers so I know what I need to do next. I still can't believe it happened so fast without any warning. I arrived at the lawyers office and waited patiently for him with Rosie sniffing around his office. I have to bring her with everywhere because I can't keep her in the hotel room that I'm currently staying in.

"Good morning Miss. Walker how are you holding up? My name is Mark." He strolls in and has a seat behind his desk opening a files that he had brought in with him.

"Morning Mark, please call me Paisley and I guess I'm doing okay for someone who just heard the news." I said hushing Rosie to quiet down.

"I'm sorry to hear about what happen, I was good friends with your grandparents and they have trusted me enough to handle their will." He tells me while flipping through his papers.

"Well thank you so much I do appreciate it." I smile at him weakly.

"Alright let's get down to business then shall we." He says smiling in my direction, I just give him a nod of approval.

"Okay so seeing as you are the only family member left you should know that everything goes to you. That means the apartment and the antique shop is yours, you can either decide to keep them or sell them. The money in their account is yours and the savings but you should speak to the bank regarding that. The last thing that is written here says that there is something for you in their safety deposit box,the password is your birthday." He told me it took me a while to take everything in, so we both just sat there in silent for about 5 minutes.

After discussing everything I left to gather my thoughts. I stopped to get a coffee and went straight to the bank to you speak to the adviser. She gave me some ideas and I decided to just put all the money away into a new savings account for the moment until I have decided what I was going to do with it.

She then took me to the safety deposit box and left me with my thoughts. Staring at the box made me think as to what could be in it, what could they have left me, what was so important that it had to be in a box locked away from the world.

I slowly opened the box to reveal an old book and a letter. The book was old and worn out, brown in colour and pages bound with a string to keep them all together. I take out both the book and the letter to see the letter had my name on. Opening it I start to read what it wanted to tell me.

"To our dearest Paisley. If you are reading this it means we have left and we are so sorry. Life has come to an end for us and we are not mad or disappointed about it. We had our time, we lived it and enjoyed every single moment of it. We hope you understand this we never meant to leave you, but we know that you will be alright by yourself.

You are a strong, independent woman and we love you for that. We know this will be hard on you now but just know that your mother, father and the two of us are looking down on you and we will always be in your heart and guide you even though we aren't in front of you. Grow up to be the woman we know you can be.

We have left you this journal with the antique shop. This journal was the one thing that was special to us. For you to understand everything you must read it. There are a lot of untold stories and adventures awaiting you, this journal will help you with everything you need to know and understand.

We hope you stay with the antique shop and carry on with what has been in the family for so many years. The book is the key to the shop and you will soon find that out for yourself.

We miss you angel and we are so proud of you.

P.S- look out all the adventures that lay ahead of you will start soon, and we can promise you now you won't be facing them alone.

We love you so much

Your grandparents "

The tears were rolling down my cheeks and I could not stop them. I just didn't understand what was going on why did they have to leave why did they leave me alone. I miss them already and reading the damn letter just made everything worse. I take the journal and start flipping through the pages, I recognised the hand writing as my grandfathers. Stories that go on for pages, I cant wait to read them all if it was anything like all the other stories my grandparents told me it would be amazing to read.

I just cant wrap my head around what they meant about "you wont be facing them alone" , I have no one else, no one left, I'm alone.

*******

After the bank I had to go the hospital to hear about their autopsy. I was scared to hear what the cause was of their death. I finally met with the pathologist and my nerves were killing me. "Good afternoon Miss. Walker my name is Clare its nice to meet you, and sorry to hear about your grandparents." she gave me a hug. "thank you Clare." I said to her.

"so after the autopsy I discovered that they died of an overdose of sleeping tablets, the amount that they have taken was to the extreme. My only guess was that they decided that it was time for them to go." she tells me and I was lost for word.

My grandparents just decided to take their own life just like that and leave me behind. "So what you are basically telling me is that they took their own life." I asked her.

"that's what it looks like Miss. Walker" she tells me. "uhm well thank you so much Clare I do appreciate all the help." I tell her and waved goodbye before leaving. How can things get any worse now, how could they take their own life, leave me behind?

After getting something to eat for both Rosie and I we went to the antique shop, I haven't been there in 10 years and I was excited to see what they turned it into. I use the key that the lawyer gave me and opened the front door, the bell above the door ringed with a cheerful sound. The shop looks like it did 10years ago still the same style same vibe. Moving to the counter I let go of Rosie and set everything down and have a look around the shop.

******

About 4 hours later I took a break from reading from the journal and look up to see its already dark outside, and Rosie is fast asleep under the counter. Walking towards the door to lock it I find a letter that has been push through from underneath the door, it had my name on it.

I open the letter but all it read was.

"and now our adventures begin..."
