Sophie's P.O.V.
The moment that door was closed I felt empty. A tear falls down my cheek but I don't bother to wipe it away."Sophie." The door opens and I turn to him.
"What? I'm going home... You can't stop me Nathan. I have to go back at some point."
With that I turn back to the street again and start walking.
"Sophie... I-I don't know."
The hurt in his voice is clear.
"I have to go."
I start walking again and leave him standing there on his porch.
Nathan's P.O.V.
She's gone once again.I had a chance and I blew it again. A chance at what you ask? A chance to help. A chance to be something to her. I let her walk away. It hurt to see her go but I couldn't do anything to stop her.
Ugh. I'm so stupid! Maybe I can get her to come back if I go now...
At that thought I grab my keys and run to my car like a maniac.
I don't see her anywhere.
She just left. Seriously!
I'd already been driving around for an hour. I still didn't see her. It was getting dark.
But it's only seven thirty.
I let out a frustrated sigh and turn around.
"Where did you go?"
"Nowhere. It's none of your business."
"Where's Sophie? Did she go home? I wanted to see if she was okay..."
"She's fine mom. Now leave it be."
Sophie's P.O.V.
I knew he was going to come looking for me.I watched him drive by this tree three times already. He has only looked this way once and yet he didn't notice me in the shadows.
Well why would he? You're hiding remember?
Oh shut up.
Seriously? Why do I talk to myself like this?
I've been out here for almost two hours. He stopped searching thirty minutes ago and I was still sitting here at the base of a tree that I'm starting to like.
You're just delaying going home because you know what's going to happen.
Of course I am stupid! Wait... I just called myself stupid...
Well you are duh. You're sitting here like a loner. No wonder you have no friends.
"This is why I don't like myself."
I get up and grab my bag. I look around before coming out of the dark.
"Okay... Time to face the music."
My hands started shaking and my heart started beating two times faster than it already was.
My house is just two blocks from here so I walked extra slow.
My mind was swirling with all these thoughts I didn't notice I was almost there.
"Dammit!"
I didn't walk slow enough...
I peer around a tree that was kind of but not really on the yard.
The lights are on so they are definitely awake.
"Shit..."
I bring my hand to my chest and feel my heart beating so fast. I wipe my hands on my jeans just to try and stop them from shaking so much. All these thoughts are swirling around I don't know how to think clearly.
"Okay... I'm just going to sit here for a moment."
I sit down at the trunk of the tree and try those breathing exercises people use in the movies.
Have you ever gotten so nervous that it literally felt as if your heart was going to jump right out of your chest? Well that's how I felt now.
"This isn't working."
I squeeze my eyes shut and try to think.
Okay... I could go in through my window and take some clothes... But where in the world would I go? What if she's in there... No. I can't risk it... But I need clothes for school tomorrow...
"Dammit! This is so complicated!"
I look around then stand up. Once I've gotten my breathing down to a normal pace I walk towards the front door.
