Chapter 6

(Aiden’s POV)

I walked into the pack house with a goofy grin on my face. I’m sure the rest of my pack will judge me for being such a girl, but I can’t help myself; I’m in love. Addison made me so happy tonight when she said she would be my girlfriend. My girlfriend; I love the sound of that. I want her to be so much more than that, but for now it’s a start.

After I got inside I noticed Hunter frantically pacing back and forth. As soon as he saw me he rushed over to me. “I messed up man,” he cried out.

“What? What happened?” I said through a grave expression.

His face instantly twisted up into one of agony, “I did it. I bit Arianna.”

“What?” I hollered causing him to jump back in fright. “Did she give consent? Does she know what you are?”

Tears started pooling in his eyes, “no,” he whispered.

“Hunter, you do realize that goes against our rules…”

Although werewolves get a lot of freedom, there is a strict set of rules we must abide by. For starters, you must not tell humans about werewolves, which is an obvious one. The other rule, which is very important, is that you cannot claim your mate as your own without them first giving you consent.

“I know, I know,” Hunter exclaimed. “I don’t know what to do; now that I’ve claimed her I have no control to stay away from her.  I’ve freaked her out and she wants nothing to do with me.”

“Hunter, how did this even happen?” I asked completely exasperated.

His tears finally spilled over, now freely pouring down his face. “It got a little heated when we started kissing and I totally lost control. Before I realized what was going on my teeth were sunk into her collar bone. She flipped out, naturally, and started pushing me away, but I just hung on tighter, biting deeper. She started crying and screaming for help. Her cries were what pulled me back and helped me gain control of my wolf. She freaked out and took off running, begging people to help her. I was going to go after her, but I didn’t have it in me to make her more afraid.”

I watched him as his quiet cry became a loud sob. “Hunter, if the council finds out about this-“

“I know, I’m dead,” his voice held complete indifference. It scared me to hear him talk like this. “I don’t care though,” he told me, “I won’t be able to live without Arianna. My wolf has been crying out for her for the past hour.”

“I’m not going to let them hurt you,” I told him. Hunter is my best friend; he has been in my life forever. He is like a brother to me. “Did you try telling her what you are?”

“She won’t listen to me, I tried. I’ve called her a thousand times,” he cried out, bringing out a fresh set of tears.

“I…I know what I have to do…” I gulped, thinking of what it would entail.

“Your…you’re not planning on-“

“Yes, I’m going to tell Addison,” I told him, barely holding it together.

“No, you can’t. If she rejects you it will leave us both in the same boat, and believe me you don’t want to be in this boat because it’s sinking fast.”

“I told you, I’m not going to let the council kill you,” I spat out. “If I tell Addie and she accepts it, I’ll have her talk to Arianna. If Arianna accepts you for who you are and gives you her consent, the council will have no need to interfere and you will be safe.”

“But, what if Addison doesn’t accept you?”

An instant chill ran through me, “I can’t think about that. I just need to hope and pray she is ok with it.”

“Aiden, I’m sorry but I just can’t let you do that. The risk is too high, it is simply too soon.”

“That’s enough,” I shouted using my Alpha voice. I noticed Hunter instantly backed down, bowing his head to show respect. “It has already been decided; I will tell her today.”

“Are you sure?” he hesitantly asked, gauging my mood.

“Yes, now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to give her a call.” At that I left and made my way up to my room, slowly dragging my feet along.

I walked into my room and began pacing back and forth, trying to find the courage to make the call. I knew I was never going to find the strength to call her so I just pushed number one, which was her speed dial number, and put it up to my ear.

It only rang once before it answered, “why the hell did Hunter bite Arianna? He left a freaking mark. What kind of friends do you have?” she screeched.

I shuttered at her tone, I could already tell this was going to end very, very badly. “I was hoping we could talk in person… I promise I’ll explain everything.”

“I think that would be a good idea,” she told me.

“Are you busy now?” I asked, needing to see her.

“No,” she said, her tone very short.

“Ok, I’m coming over now,” I told her.

The drive felt like it lasted forever; I was a bundle of nerves. I kept trying to think of what to say, but I kept drawing up a blank.  As soon as I reached her dorm I saw her standing outside with a major scowl on her face. If I didn’t know how serious the situation was, I would take the time to realize how cute she looked. Her blonde hair was up in a messy bun which had blonde tendrils framing her angry face. She was cute when she was angry; I just wished she wasn’t angry with me.

I stepped out of the car and looked at her, giving her a forced smile. “Can we talk in the car?”

She nodded her head yes, and began walking towards my car. As soon as she got there she slipped inside and looked up at me waiting. “So, you wanted to talk?” she asked me.

“Ahh…yah…” I replied. I turned in my seat to look at her. My nerves were rising like crazy, and my hands closed into tight fists. I have never been so terrified in my life.

“Are you going to tell me what’s going on or not?” she demanded.

“I’m trying,” I said a little bit too harshly. She shied back, afraid of my sudden burst of anger. “Sorry,” I quickly apologized sensing her fear; “I just don’t know where to start.”

“Well, would you please just tell me, it’s freaking me out?”

“Ok,” I took a deep breath and looked her straight in the eye. I had no idea what to say, so I took a deep breath and spit out the first thing I could think of, “What did you think of Twilight?
