Chapter 13

(Hunter’s POV)

I got off the phone with my beautiful little mate much sooner than I would have liked too. It seems that Arianna wants my help in scheming to get Aiden and Addison back together. Of course I will help her because I will do whatever she asks; she has me totally whipped and I’m quite all right with it. Not only am I doing it because Arianna wants me too, I am also doing it because I know this is what Aiden needs. He has been desperately trying to figure out how to get Addison back since the little pep talk I gave him a few days ago.

I quickly mind linked Aiden, telling him the good news. Hey buddy, I got good news for you. Where are you?

It took seconds for Aiden to mind link me back, I just got into the pack house and am heading up to my office, what’s up?

I’ll meet you in your office. I replied before blocking him out and making my way to his office. He has definitely stepped up and resumed his role as alpha over these last few days. I thought we lost Aiden for awhile after Addison left him, so I’m glad to see he is making a slow come back.  I feel for him though, I can’t imagine what he has been going through; when I lost Arianna for a few days after the whole claiming incident I was nearly suicidal.

I made my way up the staircase to the top floor of the pack house where Aiden’s office was. I knocked on the tall, menacing, dark oak door that led to his office.  “Come in,” I heard Aiden call from behind the door.

I creaked open the door and saw Aiden’s head bowed over papers as he sat behind his large oak desk. His office was very big and dark, personally to me I found it to be a bit gloomy but Aiden liked it. The walls were painted a dark burgundy and all of his furnishings were a dark oak.  A bookcase took up an entire wall and was filled with textbooks on the history of our kind. I have never once seen Aiden open up those books, so I have no idea why he still keeps them around.

When Aiden heard me enter he looked up with a sad smile on his face. “So you have good news for me,” he questioned, “I could really use some good news about now.”

I gave him a sympathetic smile as I took in the dark circles under his eyes. It was evident that he has been living many sleepless nights. Since he dragged himself out of bed a few days ago he completely put himself into his work.  He would either be in his office, or out running the border checking for any rogue activity. “You, my friend, are going to a party tonight,” I told him.

His face completely fell at the news and devastation washed over his features. I could tell he was expecting me to tell him something else.  “No I’m not, I have too much to do… Besides, I am in no party mood.”

“Oh but you will be…” I cheerfully told him, “a certain someone who is very special to you is planning on going.”

His face perked up at my news, “Addison?”

“Yep, I just got off the phone with Arianna. Addison is going to be there, and you and I will just happen to show up.”
