Chapter Nueve
"Goodnight Socheezi," Rian said, rubbing her tired eyes. She had helped Sophie out of the car and was now gently setting her down on the couch. "Sweet dreams and what not."
"Okay, nighty night Ri," Sophie hiccuped, laughing a little less. The hyperness from her last drink was wearing off. Hopefully, by the time Rian reached her room, Sophie'd be out like a light and all would be hush enough to sleep.
"I'll see you in the morning Rian," Elizabeth whispered, Channa's arm draped around her shoulders. Channa was humming some unrecognizable tune and out of the blue, pinched one of Lizzie's rosy cheeks.
"My precious..." she uttered in a raspy burpy voice.
"Oh god... no more alcohol or Lord of the Ring's films for this lady." Lizzie yawned.
"I don't think she's ever seen those movies," Rian said raising an eyebrow to which Elizabeth raised one as well.
"That's creepy."
Rian grinned sleepily after Elizabeth as she turned with Channa, still pinching her face, and headed into the hallway.
At the same time, Rian finished placing a blanket over Sophie and went to hang up her keys on the key rack. She hoped for more great times with her closest friends. Was that too much to ask for? She knew she couldn't predict the future and all that jazz. And she especially didn't know where they'd all be in a year, but wherever that was, she hoped they'd be together.Whatever... Next year isn't here yet.
Rian sighed, exhaustion taking over, as her hand twisted the door knob as quietly as possible. She took small breaths as she tiptoed into her room, and even smaller ones as she shut the door. Cain had been asleep when she had left earlier and by the snoring, he still was. "Good I rather avoid the embarrassment," she mumbled to herself as she crept over to her closet.
Inches away from it, the lights suddenly flickered on. She turned to see Cain sitting up, his hand dropping instantly from the light switch once they made eye contact. The awkward was so dense, one could practically slice the air between them.
"So... Fun night?"
Rian was red in the face, all she could do was nod. This is so weird. Oh my God.
Cain sat there and gave her a half lidded grin. This was new. He wasn't taunting her.
Rian shook her head at the ridiculous assumption that he would. She had to remind herself that they weren't children anymore. They weren't in class, they were in her room... And she was still dressed as a goddamn penis.
Cain pulled her comforter off then, revealing the black pajamas with little blue mustaches scattered on them. She was a tad surprised he was actually wearing them.
"That's good you had fun," he said, scratching the back of his neck. He got onto his feet next and stretched his arms out until they fell back at his sides once more. "You must want your bed right?"
Rian found her voice again. "Um no, no don't worry about it. I'll sleep on the bean bag or the couch."
"I'll take the couch."
"No!" Rian nearly shouted. Her voice quickly fell low. "I mean no, that's okay."
"I doubt your friend would do that to me again," Cain chuckled. If he was trying to reassure her, it wasn't working.
"I know, I just still feel bad about the whole vase thing."
"I'm okay. Really. She hit me with a vase, not her car."
Wanna bet she won't?
"I don't know. She's a little intoxicated right now. I don't want her to mistake you for a robber again."
"Oh." Cain seemed to see her point a little better now. "Well in that case, I'll sleep on the bean bag." He inched closer to her then and kissed her cheek, much to her surprise. "Glad your home safe," he added, before moving past her to the corner of the room. He plopped down onto the beanbag, and in no time, resumed his snoring.
-•-•- (meanwhile...)
Elizabeth was struggling as she tried to pry Channa's costume off her body with little to no success. It must've been because of Channa's incessant rolling across the mattress.
"Seriously! Let me take this damn thing off already, it's taking up all the space on the bed."
"You keep sayin' words," Channa replied in a drunken slur, "but all I hear is..." A loud drawn-out fart sound came from beneath the costume.
"Classy."
"Thank you."
"Your not drinking next time."
"You're not the boss of me!" Channa whined. Elizabeth only sighed. She was tired and just wanted to go to bed.
"Can you please just hold still for me?" She asked in her special sugary way that Channa could never deny no matter what was going on.
Channa immediately stopped rolling and extended her hand out to Lizzie. "Help me up?"
Elizabeth gave her a small grin, pulling her girlfriend to a standing position, and slid the vagina suit up and over her head. "That's much better."
Channa stared at Elizabeth, blankly, and suddenly wrapped her arms around her waist. They stood there, Channa slightly swaying, yet stable enough to try dancing a strange little waltz with Lizzie.
"I didn't know you were so multitalented."
"Yeah, well you know, I also dabble a little in Spanish sign language," Channa said, twisting and forming her fingers into weird poses.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm trying to sign the word 'olé'."
Oh how Lizzie adored her.
"I love you, ya know?" she murmured near Channa's ear.
Channa halted their dancing and pulled back enough to see Elizabeth's face clearly. It actually seemed like Channa was a tad sober the way she was looking at Liz. It gave her goosebumps.
"I love you more than all the stars in all the universe, and not just this universe, other universes too."
"You sure know how to sweep a woman off her feet, babe." Elizabeth smiled humorously, pressing her soft cheek against Channa's.
"Oh you mean like this..."
"No Channa no...! Ah!"
