I am woken up by Loki's paw in my face twitching back and fourth as he sleeps beside me. I grab his foot causing him to wake up and lick my face. Gross. By the looks of it I am in my own room and alone. I get up and stretch, yawning as I walk out on my balcony. I notice quickly that it's quiet, the castle is peaceful. It's weird, it's normally always busy and there's always something to do. Loki walks out by my side stretching and laying down. The sky was gray and there was no sun. The air was cool and there was a light breeze that made it even colder.
I stepped back inside as Loki followed and closed the door. Loki made himself at home on my bed as I walked in my closet to change. As I opened my door to my room and poked my head out, my eyes locked with Noah who was standing guard outside my door leaning on the opposite wall with a weird smile plastered across his face. "What?" I ask a little creeped out.
"We have a surprise for you, but it's not ready yet. I'm just here to follow you around and make sure you don't find their hiding spot. You can go anywhere but outside, it's cold out there and the last thing we need is you getting sick" He says
"Oh yeah" I say and close the door behind me.
"Why don't we pay the village people a visit? I think they're out setting up shop in the square." Noah suggests. I nod and take lead.
A little girl about the age of six immediately attaches herself to me. Pulling on my hand and urging me to follow her to her family's corner shop. Her mother and brother bowed their heads in my presence and introduced themselves. The mother Alice and the boy about fourteen Toby, and the little girl named Haylee. They had made me a coat made of soft fabric and fur. I thanked them and offered to pay but they denied. As Noah helped me put on the coat my stomach growled. My face heated up with embarrassment, I hadn't eaten that much lately.
"Would you like some soup?" Alice offered pointing to a pot over a fire full to the brim with soup.
"Oh no I couldn't!" I say waving my hand in denial.
"Oh please it would be my honor! Plus we have enough to go around. Toby is quite the hunter!" she smiled
Alice pours Noah and I a bowl as we all sit by the fire.
"Wow this is really good, what's in here?" I say with a big smile. Their faces all light up when I say this.
"Rabbit! I killed them all myself!" Toby beams.
"Amazing! Do you think you could teach me to hunt sometime?" I smile at him as his eyes grow bigger than the bowl of soup he held in his lap.
"Why do you need to learn how to hunt?" Noah raises a brow. "You already practically kill people for a living" he mutters under his breath and I elbow him in the side.
As we finish eating it begins to snow and everyone looks to the sky. "It hasn't snowed in three years" Alice says. Really? Back where I was from in earth it didn't get cold enough to snow so we never had it. Except for that time I made it snow. This was my chance to finally actually play in it.
"Come on!" I say to the kids, "Let's go outside!" I say excitedly.
"We are outside idiot" Noah says and I scowl at his remark.
"I know, but I mean out where we can watch the snow cover up every inch of this place!" I say. Noah makes me put on the coat the kids made me as Alice makes them do the same before we run through the hallways of the castle and out the front gate.
We packed snow into snowballs, and built snow forts to have a battle. Before her battle could even begin I was hit from behind by a stray snowball. The snowfall got faster in the snow grew thicker as he turned to see where the snowball had been thrown. There, standing in front of me was an angel with large beautiful white wings. It wasn't just any Angel either, it was Amber. Stepping out behind her with Stephanie with light brown wings of her own.
I stood there shocked taking it all in for just a slight second before packing some snow into a snowball and throwing it as hard as I could at Amber. The kids and I all ganged up on Amber and Stephanie but after a while it got too cold to be outside anymore so he went back inside. I returned Toby and Hailey back to Alice as she told me everyone else had gone to the office. The three of us walked down the halls shivering and laughing towards the office and burst through the doors. They had a fire going in the corner to which Amber and I melted beside.
I looked up and noticed everyone was staring down at me "what?" I say breath.
"Well, what do you think of the new additions?" Hannah says.
"Yeah, Caleb made us work our asses off to find someone to do this." Jade scoffed. I held up my pointer finger in a gesture to hold on as I took a few deep breaths before jumping up and hugging everyone and Caleb last.
"You are freezing" she says.
Thanks Captain obvious "yeah, it's cold outside."
"Well, now that were all back together, we need to get back down to business." Caleb says steering me back over to the center table.
