Unfortunately for us, Selena saw right through my illusion and had been picking through my memories for information, while controlling me and making me weaker. Finally I gave in and fell to my knees as the illusion faded, Jade caught me before my head could hit the floor. A smirk formed upon Selena's face as she scoffed, "I'm impressed sis, you almost had me fooled there. Fortunately I already figured out what you look like by picking through moms memories." I could feel Noah getting tense behind me as I found my strength to stand on my own again.
"Selena, were not a threat." I start to say but her cold hearted laugh cuts me off.
"Not a threat, huh? You say that yet you're here to kill my mom, your mom! All she wants to do is make things right and you keep denying her a daughter." She says in the most innocent way possible. What kind of bull shit is Aria putting in this girls head?
"She's not even my mother.." I start to say as I take a step closer to her but I am once again cut off as Selena takes a step closer towards me as well.
"Because Kendant took you away from her before she could ever be a motherly figure to you!" She yells hotly.
"Because my father was smart, he saw what was to come of the future, all the hate and the greed Aria built up inside her. Like a curse, the same thing that happened before to my fathers parents was happening to him." I counter back, my right hand now falling up into a fist.
"Kendant was stupid, if you would have stayed, none of this would be happening, and everything would be fine. His stupidity is what got him killed, and it's that same stupidity that's going to kill you too!" This pissed me off, my nails were digging into the skin of my palms now.
"All she wants to do is take over, and she'll do that by killing innocent people, manipulating them to get what she wants. My father had royal blood, she could have had all that she wanted." I start to say quietly through gritted teeth. "But she killed him instead! Because she was a selfish bitch!" I shouted. At that point I could see the fire that had ignited in her eyes.
"And quite frankly you are too" Selena said softly with no emotion, next thing i know, my clenched fist swings faster than I can realize what my reflexes are doing. With great power, I punch her right in her stupid face and send her flying across the room, hitting the wall on the opposite side of the room. "That wasn't very nice" she says picking herself up off the floor and brushing off the dirt she is covered in from the impact.
"Well you kind of deserved it" Noah says from behind me, this is when I notice he's gotten much closer to means is in full defense mode. Selena draws out her sword as she strides towards me again and points the tip of her sword at my face and I don't even flinch. In the same second Casey and Jade draw their sword too and poise it at the base of her throat. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Jade spits.
"Noah, Aimee, go on ahead, Jade and I will take care of her." Casey says. It takes me a moment before I give in. As we leave the room, Noah puts a soft hand on Casey's shoulder and I hear his whisper "do what you have to do" I have a feeling he doesn't want to leave her, but he vowed to stay by my side and keep me safe if Caleb couldn't. But Casey is strong and he knows that.
There's a fairly long corridor before the next set of stairs. We swiftly make our way over to one of the windows set on the right hand side of the wall and look out at the chaos that is happening outside. Both of our forces look to be half and half while we have more reinforcements coming, it looks like we have the upper hand. I spot Pandora in the distance and channel myself to her, including Noah in on the conversation. "Have you seen Caleb?"
' he's fighting someone, but it doesn't look like he's trying to hurt them.'
"What do you mean?"
'This guy kind of looks like him, and it looks like he's being controlled by someone?'
"It's his dad, but how can Selena be controlling him while she's fighting with Casey and Jade?" Noah points out.
"I need to get to him" I say. Whoever is under the control of Selena, who is, might I add, part blood bender, is as good as dead.
"Aimee no- we have to keep going." Noah says grabbing my arm and holding it firmly. I can't help but helplessly look down as I finally spot them off to the side of the main battle. Caleb is dodging all of his fathers attempts to strike him. In one swift move, Tom knocks Caleb down and in that moment he takes Caleb's dagger from his belt and poises it in the air, ready to strike. "Caleb!" I yell as if he can hear me. As Tom thrusts downward with the knife, he stops for a half of a second, and in that second before he could realize, Caleb reaches his right arm up, placing his hand on his fathers chest, with electricity pulsating through his veins, he electrocutes his father. And in that same moment I feel Selena's aura dissipate. "No!" I scream and try to jump out of the window but Noah wraps both arms around me and stops me from moving. I am helpless and all I can do is watch as Tom drops the knife and falls limply into Caleb's arms. In the course of a mere two seconds, Selena was killed and the spell on Tom was released, and that's when he stopped, but it was too late. Caleb was forced to kill his own father to protect himself. I killed his mother and now he's killed his own father. I can't help but blame myself as the thought that Caleb having no other family left is because of me and my stupid cursed family. I let out my last scream in agony as I bury my face into Noah's chest as he comforts me.
After I'd finally calmed myself down, I stood up and walked down the corridor to the stairwell and began the climb, Noah close behind. I finally reached the door to what had to be Arias room, there were no other doors and no where else to go. I look behind me at Noah who nods to go on. I waste no time as I push through the doors and step into the room. It's pretty spaced out, nothing but a vanity, a fireplace - which was on - two closed doors that lead to a balcony, a closet and a bed, where Aria sat with her head down.
She had no armor on at all, I guess Devon's element of surprise worked, she had no idea we were coming. She snapped her head up in our direction in surprise. Startled she rose to her feet and started fiddling with her fingers. Her face was red and her eyes were slightly glazed over as if she had been crying. "Aimee? Have you changed your mind?" She says in the most innocent way possible.
"Not a chance" I say resting my left hand on my sword still nestled in its sheath on my left side of my belt and my right hand on my right hip. Her expression then fades back into the despair and darkness that it always was. "I found your secret weapon by the way, she was loads of fun" I say and I can see her eye twitch.
"You must not have trained her all that well, such a shame really because she died in a matter of 10 minutes" Noah says nonchalantly.
"I can't even imagine what my combat skills would have been like if I grew up with you" I say.
"You would have been dead in less than a minute" Noah laughs.
"Oh, by the way, I have a late Christmas present for you mom. I say putting a hard emphasis on the word mom and I see the smallest light in her eyes. "You might want to duck" I say to Noah over my shoulder, in the same second as we get down to ground level, the French doors to the balcony rip off their hinges and fly above and over our heads. Atlas is standing gracefully in what once was Arias doorway to her balcony. "Aria, I would like to introduce you to Atlas"
"A stupid horse?" Aria says.
Tsk.
"Not just any stupid horse. Atlas is Lillian's myth. He's immortal." I say.
"Impossible" Aria says quietly, eyes wide.
'Possible' Atlas says narrowing his eyes and pawing at the floor.
