Days passed by, and Mia still didn't have the courage to call Haise.
Yui kept hanging out with Misaki, which mean she killed more and more people. Mia tried to stop her, but it was too late, she already fell for him.
Today Yui invited Mia to come with them to the new ghouls club. Mia didn't want to, but she agreed; she wanted to protect her friend.
The place was filled with ghouls and half ghouls. Loud music, drags, drinks, smoke and a lot of blood was the only words which could describe this horrible place.
"Mia mia mia chan! Come here! Misaki wants to show us s-something!" Yui yelled, as a strong wave of the smell of alcohol hit Mia's face.
Yui was so drunk, it was scary. No wonder she came home late lately.
Without a choice Mia towed after the two, not wanting to stay alone, not like it really mattered: neither Misaki nor Yui would help her.
While walking up stairs where the mystery room was, she was pushed by a lot of ghouls. She was really stressed out from what was coming next.
The moment Mia entered the room, the first thing she heard was a really dreadful scream. When she tried to see what it all was about, she didn't believe it. An innocent human being was trapped by heavy metallic chains, all his skin was burned and ripped off. He tried to run and struggle, but the chains didn't let him.
The ghouls were laughing and screaming from joy.
Even Yui was having fun from looking at this dying creature.
Like a horrible nightmare, she could see herself there, two years ago, surfing from the same pain, realizing the death is close:
When you prefer to die then suffer this much.
Mia's eyes started to water. She started to run out the room, trying to get away as fast as possible, when a hand caught her. She turn around to see Yui. "Where are you going? The fun is just beginning!" She said with a smile like everything was okay.
A loud scream was heard again.
Mia took Yui's hand and run down.
"What are you doing!" Yelled Yui when the two were outside the club.
"What are you doing! Yui this is sick! Can't you see he is destroying you? You became one of those Ghouls you were afraid of! You became a monster!" Mia yelled, she felt how hot and afraid she was.
"A monster? Do me a favor, we all monsters. This is a mad world Mia, when you will learn it and accept it? There is no right or wrong; there is no more justice" Yui said, her voice is loud and clear. She looked so scary, as if she was about to hit someone.
"You are wrong Yui, you are so wrong" Mia said, getting pissed off.
"You are so sweet Mia. Remember that "guy" who you fell for? He is a human, am I wrong? Believe me, even if you didn't run away, he would kill you without thinking twice. It doesn't matter who you are or who you was, because you are a ghoul, and ghouls, are born to die."
Mere words were enough to break her down. Her eyes were wide open, but she didn't cry: She was terrified.
Even though she was drunk, maybe she is even talking bullshit, but this was the truth. Mia felt her heart breaking into million pieces when she remembered Juuzou. She never really stopped thinking about him, she accepted she couldn't be with him a long time ago, but it didn't stop him from killing her or even worse: Hating her.
This was the worst feeling; to be hated by someone you loved.
"Mia... I'm sorry... I-I didn't meant to-"But it was too late, Mia couldn't hear anything anymore. She heard only her own thoughts. She imagined Juuzou killing her, with a big smile on his face, with a big pleasure in taking a ghoul's life away.
"So, what did you wanted to talk about?" Asked the black & white haired boy. "I have questions" Said Mia, her voice is quite.
"Oh, okay. You can ask me everything- I don't mind"
He said with a warm smile. The waiter gave the two their cups of coffee. Mia's cold hand's wrapped around the hot cup.
"Are you fine? You don't look well" Asked Haise.
"Yea I just... I had a sleeping trouble last night" She said and took a sip from the liquid.
"If humans... will like, think I am a ghoul... wouldn't they hate me?" She asked, her eyes focused on the cup.
"But you are not" Haise said, taking a sip from his cup.
"And even if I was a ghoul... wouldn't they hate? Wouldn't they say I need to die only because I'm a monster?" Asked Mia, her voice shaking.
"Look, ghouls are seemed to be full of terrorization. There is no wonder people are afraid of them, but you need to understand, there are bad ghouls out there, as much as there are bad people out there." His answer wake Mia up.
"And still, there is no peace between us" She said, now more confident.
"There is no such thing as peace. We just try to do something good for everybody, we aren't gods and we can't control the rules of this humility" He said, putting the empty cup on the table, while her cup was still full.
"I have a meeting now, so I need to get going."Said Hasie and got up.
"W-Wait!" Said Mia before he put his coat on.
"Let me join you" She said and got up as well.
Haise smiled and without saying another word took her hand and pushed her so she was going with him.
"We need to check you before doing anything" He said as they walk into the CCG building. It has been so much time since she visited there.
"Check me?" Mia asked.
"Yes, the circumstances you were analyzed in weren't the best, maybe it's the reason for the pale skin, and the light color of your hair... who knows... it's only hypotheses..." he murmured under his breath.
They walked into a big room, which looked like a doctor's office.
Mia passed many diagnosis, some of them include analyzing, some not.
When they were all done, Haise walked Mia to his office.
"I need you to read and sign some things" He said, pulling out tones of papers. "Some...?" Mia asked and Haise chuckled.
"Yea, I know. Sorry... but I'm sure it will be simple enough!" He said and nervously rubbed the back of his head.
Mia nodded, remembering why she is here.
"Are you okay? You don't seem pretty well" He said.
"I was just thinking... we would kill ghouls, aren't we? And still... I have so much ghoul friends..." She said, almost whispering.
"I know what you feel right now, trust me, it will get better" Haise said in a calm voice.
But It wasn't enough to calm her down. And what if she would have to kill all her friends? And what if she would even kill Yui?
"Do you know about the 'arena of demons'?" Haise suddenly asked.
"It is the arena where Ghouls eats humans in front of a big crowd" He explained, not waiting for an answer.
"But do you know who created the arena?" He asked.
"Ghouls?" Mia asked, as if the answer was obvious.
He shook his head no.
"It wasn't created nor by god neither by the Satan. It was created by humans"He said. Mia was confused, how People could do such a thing to themselves?
"20 years ago, it was a punishment for sins of humans. It worked well at first,and then it became more and more illegal, to the peak where humans couldn't to govern the ghouls anymore" He said, his eyes closed and his head leaning on the chair.
"So there isn't wrong or right here, our job isn't to kill the people we think are evil or bad, we doing things to create a peaceful place both for humans and ghouls." He said.
Mia could feel the panic fading away with every single move that boy did. Helooked so calm she was jealous.
"The moment you punish all the papers, make sure to hand them to me. After that you will have to pass two weeks of exams, and if your average will be good, youpass" he said and smiled.
Mia smiled in return, she was so happy she will be doing something useful and contributing.
Mia stood up, ready to leave his office when he said "Do you have a minute? I just want you to meet somebody" He said.
Mia nodded.
They walk in the corridor, and stopped in front of a big white door.
"What's in there?" Mia asked.
"Wait just a second" He said and opened the door. He entered into the room and after a minute, a tall guy walked out the room as well as a boy with light blond hair.
"You can go there" Said Haise when he as well walked away from that door. When Mia stepped in and closed the door behind, she turn around and froze completely.
In the middle of the room was standing a big wood table, and onto the table was sitting a black haired boy, swinging his legs and playing with his stitches. "I wonder what surprise Haise san would give me~" He said, not paying attention to the girl.
His eyes were focused on the big window which was right in front of him.
She didn't know what to do. As much as she want to go there and hug to death,he might hate her now, for being one of his most hated monsters.
"J-Juuzou..." she said, her voice husky and quite.
"Mmhm?" He asked and turn with a bright smile, which quickly changed into a shocked expression. His red eyes were wide open, and his mouth too. His legs stopped swinging, while her heart stopped beating too.
