Foxpaw flung the golden apprentice off of her as hard as she could, slamming her against the ground. She yowled out in pain and flinched once. Foxpaw waisted no time and quickly darted over and pinned her down. But then she used her back legs and kicked on Foxpaw's stomach hard.

She howled in surprise but twisted in the air just in time before she hit the ground, stumbling slightly. The she-cat then darted forwards and unshelthed her claws, about to rake her side when a jet black pelt rammed into the enemy's pelt. The golden apprentice yelped in surprise and yowled as the fresh scent of blood hit Foxpaw's nose. Nightpaw delivered a few harsh scratches more before releasing the apprentice, she quickly scampered off whimpering.

"Thanks," she panted to him.

Nightpaw gave her a quick smile and a nod before flinging himself back into battle. Clover Clan was here and had found Fire Clan's territory. They were caught off guard.

Foxpaw whirled around to find another opponent, trying to ignore the stinging pain in her sprained paw when the other apprentice yanked on it hard before. She then spotted Elmpaw wrestling with a much bigger, light brown warrior.

Clover Clan never plays fair. Foxpaw thought bitterly as she yowled a cry and sprinted up to the cat, ramming hard into its side and flinging him off Elmpaw.

"Pick on someone your own size!" She yelled to him as Elmpaw gave a quick nod of thanks to her before springing back at the cat, Foxpaw at her side. Foxpaw and Elmpaw together slashed at the cat, acting as one. The warrior then soon gave out a defeated yelp and darted away back towards its territory even though he barely had a few scratch marks on him.

"And don't mess with Fire Clan fleapelt!" Elmpaw yowled after it.

Foxpaw looked around them and saw relieving that Fire Clan was winning. There were only a few Clover Clan cats left.

"Clover Clan retreat!" Yowled Cloverstar as she flung back Owlstar from her and filed out after her clan mates. But for some reason, Foxpaw could almost sense pride in her voice.

"Falconwatcher, Lilyflower, Riversplash, Bouldercliff, and Flamepaw, go check to make sure they're gone!" Owlstar instructed standing tall, ignoring the fact that he had a nasty looking bite on his shoulder and side. And even though he should be happy that his clan won, he looked a bit worried and grim, though hiding it well.

All the cats named nodded and filed out through the tunnel. Frostecho and Timberpaw were hard at work, running around the camp, sniffing out the really injured ones who needed attention first and the ones who didn't. Timberpaw then soon padded up to Foxpaw and Elmpaw.

"Any major injuries?" He asked briefly, sniffing each of them in turn.

Both she-cats shook their heads. "No," they replied at the same time.

"I just have a pulled paw," Foxpaw said shrugging, still leaning on her other three well paws.

He took a quick sniff but then shook his head. "It should heal over the night, but if you want I could put polly juice over it if it's bothering you."

She shook her head. "Nono but thank you."

He nodded briefly. "Of course," he said as he turned around but then stopped, looking back at them. "I know that we just won the battle, but do you really think that we did?" He asked suddenly, looking at both of them intensely. Foxpaw was confused.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Haha duu! Of course we did!" Both Foxpaw and Elmpaw said at the same time.

Timberpaw looked at Foxpaw for a moment but then shook his head. "Ah nono, I must just be imagining it. Sorry to bother you both," he said politely, dipping his head in farewell as well as grabbing his herbs he was carrying with him and jogged off to the other cats.

All throughout the night Foxpaw laid awake, thinking about what Timberpaw had said. And not only that was strange, because when the party that went off to see if Clover Clan left, Owlstar almost immediately called over a few senior warriors, Falconwatcher, and Frostecho to his den to discuss something. He did not look happy but worried and suspicious. Foxpaw had a sinking feeling that something wasn't right. But when she told Nightpaw this, he was to tired to say anything much, apologizing, and fell asleep almost immediately in his nest.

She sighed looking around her den. Everyone was fast asleep, snoozing away with a smile on their face. Elmpaw looked a little twitchy but other than that, everyone was still. Foxpaw sighed again and got up, stretching briefly before slipping out of the den.

The chilly night air greeted her as she padded to the entrance tunnel. She alread knew that Sunheart was keeping watch. Foxpaw briskly padded over to her, calling out a soft and quiet hello. Sunheart turned her head to look at her smiling.

"Hello my beautiful, gorgeous, bright, and strong daughter. You fought well today," she happily purred quietly, giving Foxpaw a loving lick on the ear. Foxpaw purred back.

"Thank you mother. You always know exactly what to say at the perfect times," Foxpaw commented smiling a small smile. But seeing this, Sunheart immediately frowned.

"What's wrong my dear?" She asked resting the tip of her tail on her shoulder.

Foxpaw shook her head looking down. "No. It's probably nothing," she said.

Sunheart nuzzled her gently. "Well alright. I know it's not nothing but I won't press you."

Foxpaw felt relieved. "Thanks Mother."

She smile down lovingly at her. "I'll accept your thanks after you get a good night's rest, alright? It's a big day of training tomorrow. Now go on," she said gently nudging her back towards the apprentices den.

Foxpaw chuckled softly with an actual smile on her face this time. "Alright Mother, and thank you again."

"Off you go. Goodnight my daughter, 'love you," she said giving her one last lick on the head.

Foxpaw nodded and quickly scampered off back to her den after giving her mother one last nuzzle. She curled back up into her nest once more, but only sleeping for a few brief moments before being ripped back awake to reality by an agonizing shriek.

"Mom."
