Fire Clan: Foxkit's Destiny

Chapter 10:

A paw prodded Foxpaw awake. She groaned.

"We're going to practice battle moves with the other apprentices Foxpaw," came a voice that sounded a lot like Riversplash's.

Foxpaw sprang to her paws before Riversplash could even exit the den. "What?! We're practicing battle moves with the other apprentices?" She asked smiling wildly.

Riversplash chuckled. "Yes. Now hurry. Wake up Badgerpaw and then we can go. You two are the last ones awake."

Oops.

She nodded as he padded out of  den. Foxpaw turned and maneuvered around the nest to Badgerpaw. She gently shook her brother's shoulder. "Psst! Badgerpaw, wake up."

He turned over facing the other way. "Go away Foxpaw."

"Can't. We're practicing battle moves with all the other apprentices, including me and you. So I suggest that you get up quickly or else we're all leaving without you."

Badgerpaw groaned and rolled into his paws. Foxpaw turned and padded out if the den, Badgerpaw on her heels. They walked to where Nightpaw, Shadepaw, Elmpaw, the older apprentice Flamepaw, and... Tornadopaw were waiting with their mentors. Foxpaw and Badgerpaw quickly padded towards them.

Tornadopaw glared at Foxpaw. "What took you so long mouse brains?"

Wow. I feel so welcomed. Foxpaw thought sarcastically as she glared back at him. "Well someone had to wake up Badgerpaw and some of us like to get a good night sleep for the next day so then they wouldn't be all grouchy," she shot back.

Tornadopaw opened his mouth angrily to shoot another retort at her but then Breezeheart stopped him. "Lets just get along now, shall we? This is a good day for battle training," she said in her usual sweet and calm voice. "The sun is shining and there isn't a cloud in the sky. Cheer up. It's Green-Leaf."

Foxpaw nodded and forced a smile. "Ok thanks Breezeheart." Tornadopaw said nothing.

She soon felt a pelt brush against hers. She purred softly as Nightpaw's scent hit her nose. She looked over and saw Nightpaw smiling at her.

He then spoke up. "So, are we ready?"

Everyone looked at him then at each other and nodded. "Yes, lets go," Waspwhisker, Flamepaw's mentor, said as he lead the patrol through the exit tunnel and to the woods. [Lol that reminds me of a song: Over the river and though the woods...].

Shadepaw and Badgerpaw were talking together as their mentors, Firetooth and Lilyflower were talking together. Riversplash, Rabbitail, and Otterfall were discussing their plans for the training session. Flamepaw was up ahead.

Tornadopaw quickly squeezed by Nightpaw and pushed aside Foxpaw to go ahead of them and started to chat with Flamepaw. Foxpaw shorted angrily shaking her pelt.

"I'm sorry about Tornadopaw," Nightpaw apologized looking into Foxpaw's eyes.

She nodded looking down. "It's fine."

Just then, Elmpaw butted in in between them. "Hey guys! What are you talking about?" She asked, mostly looking at Nightpaw.

"Hey Elmpaw," Foxpaw said, slightly annoyed.

Why do I feel so annoyed when Elmpaw looks at him like that?

"Uh hey," Nightpaw said as well. "We weren't talking about anything much.

Elmpaw nodded, her eyes revealing the slightest disinterest. "Ok. And I was wondering Nightpaw," she said looking at him, again, "If you would like to train with me. Otterfall said that we will get to choose partners when we start to train one on one."
