Foxkit gasped as she sat and bolted upright, all of her senses alert.
"Ugh, why are you always so-fidgetty when you go to sleep?" Grumbled Badgerkit, obviously annoyed.
She relaxed her aching muscles from tensing them. "Sorry Badgerkit."
He nodded gruffly and turned over in his moss, trying to go back to sleep.
Foxkit sighed and fell back to sleep right after curling up next to her mother Sunheart. She purred, nuzzling her once before she fell back into a dreamless sleep once again.

Foxkit felt a sudden weight on her, squishing her down to the ground. She let out a muffled and surprised squeak, flailing her paws for a moment before getting a grip. She thrust her paws upwards, throwing off the cat and sprang to her paws. Foxkit's pelt was standing on end, alert, her ears laid back. Her lips was drawn back in a snarl. She then saw Nightkit in front of her in a hunters crouch, smiling triumphantly.
"I so got you!" He said with a mischievous grin on his face, his tail swaying back and forth.
She glared playfully at him. "Yeah but you didn't pin me so I technically won."
He snored but still had that smile on his face. "Oh yeah? Wanna bet on that?"
"Yeah," Foxkit said, accepting the challenge with a slight smile on her face. She got into a hunters crouch, eyes narrowing.
"Fine," he said and sprang at her. Foxkit easily step-sided and raced outside the nursery, Nightkit hot on her heels. She then reeled around, aiming to cuff him over the ears, paws sheathed, but he quickly ducked with surprising speed and rolled away and out of range. He smirked. "You're going to have to do better than that!"
That got Foxkit slightly annoyed. She ran at him again, but Nightkit quickly step-sided and tripped her, rolling her on her back. He sprang on her, pinning her down with a paw on her chest. He looked down at her.
"I win."
Foxkit smiled, but defeated. She sighed, "Yeah you did. Now get off before all of the dust in camp sinks into my pelt."
But once he removed his paw, Foxkit sprang up and leaped at him, to fast for him to react. They tussled together until Foxkit sprang away. They were both panting slightly.
Nightkit gave Foxkit a mischievous grin. "You're pretty good for a She-Cat."
She snorted. "And what's that supposed to mean?"
His ears twitched and looked like he was about to respond, but Sunheart, Foxkit's mother, came over and saw both kits' pelts all ruffled up and dusty. She narrowed her eyes.
"Have you two been wrestling again?"
Foxkit nodded telling the truth. "Yup! And I was just about to win!"
Nightkit snorted. "Was not!"
"Was too!"
"Was not."
"Enough," Sunheart said looked half annoyed and half amused. "Foxkit, I want you to wash yourself. And same with you Nightkit. You both look filthy!"
Foxkit glanced at Nightkit and they both had to sniffle in a laugh.
"Ok Mom," Foxkit said and sat down and started to wash her back, Nightkit did the same.
Sunheart nodded, satisfied, and walked away.
Nightkit scooted closer to Foxkit and she did the same. Once they were close enough, Nightkit stroked his toung down her back, washing it as Foxkit did the same.
After a little less than ten minutes, they finished sharing tongues and they both stretched. Foxkit yawned. "So you wanna see if Mosswhisker and Barkfur have any good stories today?"
Nightkit nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! Maybe Barkfur will tell us about the one about the two foxes!"
Foxkit purred. "Hopefully! Let's go!" She meowed, turning and racing towards the elders' den, Nightkit eventually caught up. They both ducked through the den. Mosswhisker and Barkfur were chatting about which prey is the most tastiest.
"I'm telling you," Mosswhisker said to Barkfur sounding slightly irritated. "Mice is the best kind of prey. It's juicy and lots of protein."
Barkfur let out a gruff. "No, I'm tellin' you. Sparrow is! They're almost always plump and are very sweet and a fairly decent size."
Mosswhisker looked like she was about to say something but she turned and saw the two young kits watching them. She twitched her ears, clearly unaware that they were there before. She cleared her throat and soon Barkfur saw them too. He licked his chest a few times.
"So, what are you two youngin's doin' here?" He asked to the two kits.
"Well we were just wondering if you could tell us about the time when you faught off two foxes at once!" Nightkit said enthusiastically glancing at Foxkit shly.
Foxkit nodded enthusiastically as well. "Yeah! Tell us oh please tell us Barkfur!" She pleaded. Nightkit joined in right after.
Barkfur looked at the two young cats, twitching his ears once in amusement before saying, "All right all right! Of course I will!" He said wrapping his tail around his paws.
Foxkit let out an excited squeal and plopped down next to Nightkit.
"So it all started out like something like this..."
As Barkfur went on and on about the amazing tail about finding, fighting off, and defending the two foxes and his clan, Foxkit could have sworn Nightkit scooted the slightest bit closer once in a while, until their pelts brushed, and their shoulders almost touching...
